Bi5−xLaxTiNbWO15 x=0–1.50 ceramics prepared by conventional solid-state reaction were studied using x-ray diffraction XRD , dielectric spectroscopy and Raman scattering techniques. The XRD analysis implied that single-phase intergrowth bismuth layered perovskite structure was obtained for all the samples and when x=0.75, the Bi3+ in Bi2O2 2+ layer begins to be substituted by La3+. The dielectri...

A change in the relative proportions of a mixture of rubber tire dust and rice husks will cause a change in the mixture’s electrical permittivity and its ability to absorb electromagnetic energy. An openended coaxial probe was used in conjunction with three dielectric mixture equations (the Kraszewski equation, the Landau equation and the Lichtenecker equation) to obtain the dielectric properti...

Agricultural waste ashes are used as resource materials to synthesize new glass and glass-ceramics. The as-prepared materials are characterized using various techniques for their structural and dielectric properties to check their suitability in microelectronic applications. Sugarcane leaves ash exhibits higher content of alkali metal oxides than rice husk ash, which reduces the melting point o...

We report enhancement of the dielectric permittivity of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) generated by depositing magnetic iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles on the surface of barium titanate (BT) to fabricate BT-Fe3O4/PVDF composites. This process introduced an external magnetic field and the influences of external magnetic field on dielectric properties of composites were investigated systematic...

Propagation of electromagnetic (EM) waves in radio frequency (RF) and microwave systems is described mathematically by Maxwell’s equations with corresponding boundary conditions. Dielectric properties of lossless and lossy materials influence EM field distribution. For a better understanding of the physical processes associated with various RF and microwave devices, it is necessary to know the ...

We derive the analytic expressions of the electromagnetic force and torque on a dipolar particle, with arbitrary dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability. We then develop a general framework, based on the coupled dipole method, for computing the electromagnetic force and torque experienced by an object with arbitrary shape, dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability.

Dielectric-based methods were used to determine nondestructively and simultaneously bulk density and moisture content in shelled peanuts from measurement of their relative complex permittivity at microwave frequencies (7–12 GHz) and 24 C. The first method is based on direct relationships between the two components of the relative complex permittivity (dielectric constant and dielectric loss fac...

In this study, epoxy-cubic boron nitride composites are fabricated, and their dielectric response is investigated. They exhibit the same trend as epoxy composites reinforced with other filler types. Thus, at low filler concentrations, they exhibit a lower relative permittivity than neat epoxy. As the fill grade further increases, the relative permittivity of the composites increases as well. It...

We examined the correlation of wear effects with dielectric properties of carbon nanofibers (CNFs; untreated and organosilane-treated)-reinforced high-density polyethylene (HDPE) composites. Wear testing for the nanocomposites over up to 120 h was carried out, and then, dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss factor of the polymer composites with the increased wear time were studied. Scanni...

In order to measure the dielectric permittivity of thin insulting layers, we developed a method based on electrostatic force microscopy (EFM) experiments coupled with numerical simulations. This method allows to characterize the dielectric properties of materials without any restrictions of film thickness, tip radius and tip-sample distance. The EFM experiments consist in the detection of the e...
