OBJECTIVES This study observed midterm results of vascular ring connectors in surgery for aortic dissection. METHODS Vascular ring connectors were used as stents in vascular grafts to achieve quick, sutureless anastomoses. Tapes were used to secure ringed vascular grafts from outside the aorta. RESULTS From November 2007 to February 2011, 113 consecutive patients with aortic dissection, exc...

We report the case of a 71-year-old female with mega-aorta extending from the ascending aorta to the descending aorta, who was successfully treated with a one-stage total thoracic aortic repair by the frozen elephant trunk technique using a stent-graft. We used a home-made frozen elephant trunk with four giant-turco Z-stents on the distal side that was inserted into the downstream descending ao...

Traumatic descending thoracic aorta pseudo aneurysms have been treated traditionally with open surgery in the past, which have had noticeable rates of mortality and morbidity. A safer method of treatment for this disease is made possible with recent progress in endovascular treatment techniques. In this article, we present three cases of Traumatic descending thoracic aorta pseudo aneurysms that...

OBJECTIVE GCA carries an increased risk of developing thoracic aortic aneurysms. Previous work with fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-PET has shown that the aorta is frequently involved in this type of vasculitis. We wanted to investigate whether there is a correlation between the extent of vascular FDG uptake during the acute phase of GCA and the aortic diameter at late follow-up. METHODS All patient...
