INTRODUCTION Merkel cell carcinoma and dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans are two very rare neoplasms. The simultaneous occurrence of two different tumour entities at the same anatomical site, collision tumours, is a rare phenomenon. CASE PRESENTATION We present a rare case of a 74-year-old woman with a previous history of a recurrent dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans presenting with a metastatic ...

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a relatively uncommon soft tissue tumor involving the dermal layer of skin with intermediate-to-low grade malignancy. Although metastasis rarely occurs, Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a locally aggressive tumor with a high recurrence rate. We treated a 35-year-old male patient with Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans left breast at Pakistan Air Force hospital ...

INTRODUCTION Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a rare low-grade soft tissue neoplasm with trunk and extremities being the most common sites of involvement. We report a rare case of male breast with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans and its imaging features. To our knowledge the imaging appearance of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans of the breast has never been reported in the literature. CASE P...

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) has been described as a rare, locally invasive, malignant fibroblastic tumor with a high rate of recurrence that usually affects middle-aged patients. Herein, we describe a rare case of a pedunculated dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans of the right thumb in an 80-year-old woman treated with excision through the base of the pedicle. We also make a brief litera...

INTRODUCTION Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a rare, locally aggressive cutaneous tumor of intermediate to low-grade malignancy. COL1A1-PDGFβ translocation is specific to dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, where the abnormally fused COL1A1-PDGFβ gene directs formation of an abnormal combined (fusion) protein that researchers believe to ultimately function like the platelet-derived growth facto...

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a locally aggressive skin tumor that affects young and middle-aged adults. A number of histological variants have been described, the myxoid type being one of the least common. Microscopically it is formed of a neoplastic growth that is located in the dermis and hypodermis and has a predominant myxoid component. Peripherally there are infiltrating bundles of s...

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is very rare tumor of dermis layer of skin with the incidence of only 1 case per million per year. DFSP rarely leads to a metastasis (Less than 5% have metastasis), but DFSP can recur locally. We publish a rare case of a recurrent dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans and its management with radical excision and interval skin grafting.

Curative surgical treatment of recurrent, locally advanced dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is often limited owing to a close relation of the tumor with important anatomical structures. Targeted therapy with imatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, may cause significant reduction of tumor volume, thereby enabling radical surgery. This treatment strategy, therefore, offers a chance of cure for sele...

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a relatively uncommon soft tissue tumor with intermediate-to-low grade malignancy. There is usually little nuclear pleomorfism and only low to moderate mitotic activity. Conventional DFSP, usually have fewer than 5 mitotic figures/10 high-power fields. We describe a case of a 74year old male patient who presented to the surgical clinic with active bleed...
