In this technical report we derive the analytic form of the Hessian matrix for shape matching energy. Shape matching (Fig. 1) is a useful technique for meshless deformation, which can be easily combined with multiple techniques in real-time dynamics (refer to [MHTG05, BMM15] for more details). Nevertheless, it has been rarely applied in scenarios where implicit (such as backward differentiation...

Vibration energy harvesting is being pursued as a means to power wireless sensors and ultra-low power autonomous devices. From a design standpoint, matching the electrical damping induced by the energy harvesting mechanism to the mechanical damping in the system is necessary for maximum efficiency. In this work two independent energy harvesting techniques are coupled to provide higher electrica...

The tuning and matching conditions of rf circuits, as well as the properties of the transmission lines connecting these to the preamplifier, have direct consequences for NMR probe sensitivity and as for the optimum delivery of rf power to the sample. In addition, tuning/matching conditions influence radiation damping effects, which manifest themselves as fast signal flip-back and line broadenin...

Malaysians were reported to have the most number of Facebook friends, spend more time on Facebook and might be addicted to Facebook as well. This paper explored Facebook usage pattern, motivations and psycho logical/behavioural factors affecting the users. A focus group study was first conducted to explo re motives to use Facebook and symptoms related to excessive Facebook usage. The themes eme...

In this paper we consider a plate equation with internal feedback and viscoelastic damping localized on a part of the boundary. Without imposing restrictive assumptions on the time-dependent frictional damping, we establish an explicit and general decay rate result that allows a wider class of relaxation functions and generalizes previous results existing in the literature.

The modeling of damping is very complex and still considered somewhat an unknown or grey area. Recently, model updating methods has been used to update the damping matrix based on measured dynamic test data to accurately represent energy dissipation mechanism in dynamic systems. Most of the finite element updating methods considers that the dynamic systems are viscous and proportional. In this ...

A two-stage power conditioning circuit consisting of an AC DC converter followed by a DC DC converter is proposed for a vibration-based energy harvesting system. The power conditioning circuit intends to maximize the amount of power extracted from a piezoelectric energy harvester by matching the source impedance with the circuit by adaptively adjusting the duty cycle. An equivalent electrical c...

The aim of this short note is twofold. First, we give a sketch of the proof of a recent result proved by the authors in the paper [7] concerning existence and uniqueness of renormalized solutions of continuity equations with unbounded damping coe cient. Second, we show how the ideas in [7] can be used to provide an alternative proof of the result in [6, 9, 12], where the usual requirement of bo...
