A new hybrid methodology that fully integrates the processing capabilities of the twin screw extrusion process (conveying solids, melting, dispersive and distributive mixing, pressurization, temperature profiling, devolatilization) with electrospinning is described. The hybrid process is especially suited to the dispersion of nanoparticles into polymeric binders and the generation of nanopartic...

A simple fabrication route for ion gel nanofibers in a triboelectric nanogenerator was demonstrated. Using an electrospinning technique, we could fabricate a large-area ion gel nanofiber mat. The triboelectric nanogenerator was demonstrated by employing an ion gel nanofiber and the device exhibited an output power of 0.37 mW and good stability under continuous operation.

Spinning is a prehistoric technology in which endless filaments, shorter fibers or twisted fibers are put together to produce yarns that serve as key element to assemble multifarious structural designs for diverse functions. Electrospinning has been regarded as the most effective and versatile technology to produce nanofibers with controlled fiber morphology, dimension and functional components...

Nanotechnology and nanomaterials have the potential to revolutionize existing and create entirely new industries. Unique physical, mechanical, chemical, and biological properties of nanomaterials have been extensively documented in the last two decades. However, most nanomaterials are discontinuous in nature, creating problems with their processing and manipulation into devices and raising heal...

*Correspo Engineer USA. E-mail: v We evaluate the feasibility of electrospinning oil-in-water type emulsions. The emulsions had an aqueous solution of polyethylene oxide (PEO) as the continuous phase, and either mineral oil or a polystyrene (PS) in toluene solution as the drop phase. The Taylor cones and electrified liquid jets were stable even when the emulsion drops were as large as a few-ten...

Novel nanostructured hybrid electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) yarns with different graphene ratios were prepared using liquid crystal graphene oxide (LCGO) and PAN. It was found that the well-dispersed LCGO were oriented along the fiber axis in an electrified thin liquid jet during electrospinning. The graphene oxide sheets were well dispersed in the polar organic solvent, forming nematic liq...

Additive manufacturing with electrohydrodynamic direct writing is a promising approach for the production of polymeric microscale objects. In this study we investigate the stability of one such process, melt electrospinning writing, to maintain accurate placement of the deposited fibre throughout the entire print. The influence of acceleration voltage and feeding pressure on the deposited poly(...
