1.3. De nition. ABSTRACT. We apply enriched category theory to study Cauchy completeness in continuity spaces. Our main result is the equivalence in continuity spaces of the category theoretic and the uniform notions of Cauchy completeness. This theorem, which generalizes a result of Lawvere for quasi-metric spaces, makes a natural connection between the category-theoretic and topological aspec...

A Theorem is proved which reduces the problem of completeness of orbits of Killing vector fields in maximal globally hyperbolic, say vacuum, space–times to some properties of the orbits near the Cauchy surface. In particular it is shown that all Killing orbits are complete in maximal developements of asymptotically flat Cauchy data, or of Cauchy data prescribed on a compact manifold.

In this paper, we review two properties of completeness known as the Bourbaki-completeness and cofinal in setting metric spaces. These notions came from new classes generalized Cauchy sequences appearing when characterizing so-called Bourbaki-boundedness a similar way that characterize totally boundedness. For clustering Bourbaki–Cauchy cofinally sequences, have respectively what is call The to...

Intuitionistic set theory without choice axioms does not prove that every Cauchy sequence of rationals has a modulus of convergence, or that the set of Cauchy sequences of rationals is Cauchy complete. Several other related non-provability results are also shown.

The Boolean ring $B$ of measurable subsets of the unit interval, modulo sets of measure zero, has proper radical ideals (for example, ${0})$ that are closed under the natural metric, but has no prime ideal closed under that metric; hence closed radical ideals are not, in general, intersections of closed prime ideals. Moreover, $B$ is known to be complete in its metric. Togethe...

The concept of I–convergence is an important generalization of statistical convergence which depends on the notion of an ideal I of subsets of the set N of positive integers. In this paper we introduce the ideas of I–Cauchy and I∗–Cauchy sequences in cone metric spaces and study their properties. We also investigate the relation between this new Cauchy type condition and the property of complet...

1. Incompleteness of weak duals of reasonable spaces 2. Appendix: locally-convex limits and colimits 3. Appendix: ubiquity of quasi-completeness The point here is to prove that the weak duals of reasonable topological vector spaces, such as infinite-dimensional Hilbert, Banach, or Fréchet spaces, are not complete. That is, in these weak duals there are Cauchy nets which do not converge. Happily...

We study new sequence spaces associated to sequences in normed spaces and the band matrix F̂ defined by the Fibonacci sequence. We give some characterizations of continuous linear operators and weakly unconditionally Cauchy series by means of completeness of the new sequence spaces. Also, we characterize the barreledness of a normed space via weakly∗ unconditionally Cauchy series in [Formula: se...

It is known since 1973 that Lawvere’s notion of (Cauchy-)complete enriched category is meaningful for metric spaces: it captures exactly Cauchy-complete metric spaces. In this paper we introduce the corresponding notion of Lawvere completeness for (T,V)-categories and show that it has an interesting meaning for topological spaces and quasi-uniform spaces: for the former ones means weak sobriety...
