Calcifying epitheliomas are uncommon tumors involving the hair matrix. Calcification is seen in most of these tumors} More than 75% of cases occur in the head and neck region during the first two decades oflife. Treatment of choice is surgical excision. Calcifying epitheliomas can be multiple and rarely manifest atypical changes or malignant behavior.4 I describe three cases of calcifying epith...

Increased seawater pCO2 , and in turn 'ocean acidification' (OA), is predicted to profoundly impact marine ecosystem diversity and function this century. Much research has already focussed on calcifying reef-forming corals (Class: Anthozoa) that appear particularly susceptible to OA via reduced net calcification. However, here we show that OA-like conditions can simultaneously enhance the ecolo...

SUMMARY Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumors and calcifying odontogenic cysts are rare, benign odontogenic tumors. We report two cases of an exceptional combination of these tumors with either an ameloblastic fibroodontoma or an odontoma.

Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor is a rare odontogenic neoplasm. Its occurrence in the maxillary sinus is very rare. Maxillary tumors tend to be locally aggressive and may rapidly involve the surrounding vital structures.  We report a case of calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor involving maxillary sinus in a 48 years old female patient with the oral mucosal involvement. The purpose o...

odontogenic tumors are derived from epithelial, ectomesenchymal and/or mesenchymal elements that are or have been a part of the tooth-forming apparatus. of all the odontogenic tumors, calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor accounts for 1% of the cases. approximately 200 cases have been reported to date. there is no sex predilection, with a 2:1 predilection for the mandible, mostly in the premo...

BACKGROUND Pigmented intraosseous odontogenic lesions are rare with only 47 reported cases in the English literature. Among them, pigmented calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor, formerly known as calcifying odontogenic cyst, is the most common lesion with 20 reported cases. METHODS A case of pigmented calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor associated with odontoma occurring at the mandibular cani...

Calcifying fibrous tumor (CFT) is a rare mesenchymal tumor, affecting children and young adults with a predilection for the soft tissue and the abdominal cavity. CFT of the tubular gastrointestinal tract is very rare with less than 20 cases of gastric CFTs reported in English literature. This benign hypocellular fibrosclerotic calcifying lesion can resemble other spindle cell tumors particularl...

The calcifying odontogenic cyst was first reported by Gorlin et al. in 1962. At that time, it was classified as a cyst related to the odontogenic apparatus, although it was later renamed as a calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor by the WHO calcification in 2005 due to its histological complexity, morphological diversity and aggressive proliferation [2]. Here, we describe a case of a calcifying c...

Evaluation of enlarged follicles with unerupted teeth is always important because some changes may occur. One of the ex-tremely rare conditions seen in dental follicles is multiple calcifying hyperplastic dental follicle. We report a case of multi-ple calcifying hyperplastic dental follicle. Radiographs showed that mandibular third molars had a pericoronal radiolucent zone delineated by a well-...

Calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor is an uncommon odontogenic neoplasm which is included in the heterogenous group of lesions under a broader description of Ghost cell odontogenic tumors. All these lesions have the presence of ghost cells as a common feature. Calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor is a unique lesion with variable biologic behaviour and found to occur with other odontogenic tumour...
