Contribution to the knowledge of caddisfly fauna Kosovo with first record genus Orthotrichia Eaton, 1873 (Trichoptera, Hydroptilidae)
b a ckground: eco-faunistic studies are inevitable step in environmental researches. aquatic organisms like caddisflies are known as biological indicators for water quality assessment and water resource management. they have special role for energy flow in the freshwater habitats as food web and food chain among aquatic creatures. methods: in addition to an extensive literature revi...
The portable cases constructed by caddisfly larvae have been assumed to act as a mechanical defense against predatory attacks. However, previous studies have compared the survival of caddisflies with different cases, thereby precluding an analysis of the survival benefits of "weaker" case materials. The level of protection offered by caddisfly cases constructed with rock, stick, or leaf materia...
Two new caddisfly species Archaeopolycentra turvalsia sp. n. and achupomotet (Polycentropodidae) from Late Cretaceous Taymyr amber (Santonian, Kheta Formation, 85 Ma) are described illustrated. Totally, now the list of caddisflies includes 13 species, family Polycentropodidae is represented by five species.
Previous studies have shown that biological structures such as plant roots can have large impacts on landscape morphodynamics, and that physical models that do not incorporate biology can generate qualitatively incorrect predictions of sediment transport. However, work to date has focused almost entirely on the impacts of single, usually dominant, species. Here we ask whether multiple, coexisti...
Until recently the caddisfly fauna of Kosovo was poorly known, with only several records. During a two-year period of investigation (2009–2010) adult caddisflies were collected with ultraviolet light, aerial net and hand picking. The genus Micropterna Stein, 1873 is reported for the first time in Kosovo with four species: Micropterna caesareica Schmid, 1959, Micropterna fissa McLachlan, 1875, M...
Polycentropodidae constitute 55.6% of Taimyr amber caddisfly species with known males, and only 4.8% males in Kachin amber. Micro-caddisflies obviously dominate (Archaeopolycentra, Polycentropodidae), (Palerasnitsynus, Psychomyiidae) New Jersey (Hydroptilidae); both Psychomyiidae Hydroptilidae are absent amber, rare The domination was proposed as a new characteristics Baeomorpha Realm, their ra...
