We report preclinical proof of principle for effective treatment of B-precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) by targeting the spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK)-dependent antiapoptotic blast cell survival machinery with a unique nanoscale pharmaceutical composition. This nanoscale liposomal formulation (NLF) contains the pentapeptide mimic 1,4-Bis (9-O dihydroquinidinyl) phthalazine/hydroquinid...

The identification of SYK as a master regulator of apoptosis controlling the activation of the PI3-K/AKT, NFκB, and STAT3 pathways-three major anti-apoptotic signaling pathways in B-lineage leukemia/lymphoma cells-prompts the hypothesis that rationally designed inhibitors targeting SYK may overcome the resistance of malignant B-lineage lymphoid cells to apoptosis and thereby provide the foundat...

Abstract Introduction In cardiac amyloidosis (CA), amyloid fibers accumulate in the extracellular spaces of heart, causing a compression and obliteration lymphatic vessels, possibly their disappearance. As lympathic drainage removes proteins from interstitial spaces, including precursors, an impairment vessels could exacerbate accumulation, triggering vicious circle. Methods Lymphatic were visu...

This paper provides an overview of the basic concepts of intertemporal equilibrium theory, and discusses the frameworks and techniques used in this subject. It then goes on to introduce the main themes discussed in the papers included in this symposium issue. Journal of Economic Literature Classification Numbers: C61, D90, O41. 2001 Academic Press

We prove the generality of the methodology proposed in Benigno and Woodford (2006). We show that, even in the presence of a distorted steady state, it is always possible and relatively simple to obtain a purely quadratic approximation to the welfare measure. We also show that, in order to do so, the timeless perspective assumption is crucial. JEL classification: C61, C63

This paper highlights connections between the discrete and continuous approaches to optimal auction design with single and multi-dimensional types. We provide an interpretaion of an optimal auction design problem in terms of a linear program that is an instance of a parametric shortest path problem on a lattice. We also solve some cases explicitly in the discrete framework. JEL Classification: ...

Several recent papers have proposed recursive Lagrangian-basedmethods for solving dynamic contracting problems. Thesemethods give rise to Bellman operators that incorporate either a dual inf-sup or a saddle point operation. We give conditions that ensure the Bellman operator implied by a dual recursive formulation is contractive. JEL codes: C61, C73, D82, E61.

We consider the static and dynamic models of Cournot duopoly with tax evasion. In the dynamic model we introduce the time delay and we analyze the local stability of the stationary state. There is a critical value of the delay when the Hopf bifurcation occurs. Mathematics Subject Classification: 34K18, 47N10; Jel Classification: C61, C62, H26

Organic semiconductor nanoparticles provide a potentially scalable approach for photovoltaics that can be processed from aqueous media. Particles of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT):phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) were prepared using two techniques; those produced by a mini-emulsion method contained greater amounts of crystalline P3HT domains with charge generation resembling phase-sep...
