Foregut cysts are various congenital lesions originated from emberyonic foregut. Bronchogenic, enterogenous and neuroenteric cysts are the most frequent forms of foregut cysts. They create different clinical symptoms based on their location. Enterogenous cysts comprise 4-5 percent of posterior mediastinal cysts and include esophageal, gastric and enteric cysts. A 61 year old woman referred to...

Personal experience in the diagnosis and management of two patients, one adult and one child, with pathologically proven bronchogenic cysts is described. Both patients presented with a solitary neck mass that proved to be bronchogenic cysts on histological examination. Aim of the review is to define the cytology, histopathological and clinical characteristics of bronchogenic cysts and discuss t...

Bronchogenic cysts frequently occur in the mediastinum. They may be rarely encountered in the abdomen and retroperitoneum. Bronchogenic cysts can in fact mimic hydatid cysts. We report a case of retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst below the right hemidiaphragm mimicking a hydatid cyst of the liver in a 30-year-old female.

sequences. One possible explanation for the high signal intensity is the presence of proteinaceous material within the cyst. Cyst fluid that has a low specific gravity and is mainly serous (a “spring water” cyst), will show very low signal intensity on T1-weighted images and have very high signal intensity on T2-weighted images. Most bronchogenic cysts contain large amounts of proteinaceous mat...

Introduction Bronchogenic cysts are one of the types of primary cardiac tumors that can occur. They arise in the interatrial septum, especially near the atrioventricular node, which may cause atrioventricular block owing to its location. The incidence of these cardiac tumors is very low. Previous case reports regarding bronchogenic cysts of the interatrial septum have shown association of bronc...

Bronchogenic cysts are mostly benign, congenital abnormalities originating from the remnants of the primitive foregut. A retroperitoneal location is rare. Due to the mostly asymptomatic behavior and the historical confusion regarding histology, an exact prevalence is not known. We present here a case report of a retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst. A literature review was performed for cases of r...

Bronchogenic cysts are benign congenital aberrations belonging to the spectrum of digestive duplications. Intrathoracic forms are the most common and are essentially mediastinal along the tracheobronchial axis in 2/3 of the cases, but can also occur in the lung, pericardium and diaphragm. They are characterized by clinical and radiological polymorphism and pose a differential diagnosis with oth...

Retroperitoneal location of bronchogenic cysts is extremely rare. Most commonly they are encountered in the posterior mediastinum. Bronchogenic cysts arise from developmental aberrations of the tracheobronchial tree in the early embryologic period. We report a 42-year-old female patient with a retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst in the left adrenal region. She was admitted to our hospital with ep...

A case of a 50-year-old male who developed left recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy due to a bronchogenic cyst is presented. The bronchogenic cyst recurred following incomplete excision and multiple attempts at percutaneous aspiration. Recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy is an unusual complication of bronchogenic cysts. This case highlights the need for complete excision of these cysts and the lack of ...
