INTRODUCTION Bronchogenic cyst is a rare clinical entity that occurs due to abnormal development of the foregut; the majority of bronchogenic cysts have been described in the mediastinum and they are rarely found in an extrathoracic location. CASE PRESENTATION We describe the case of an intra-abdominal bronchogenic cyst of the mesentery, incidentally discovered during an emergency laparotomy ...

Congenital malformations of the lung (CML) are rare with similar embryological and clinical spectra and could result in mortality if left untreated. Bronchogenic cysts are formed during the budding of the tracheal diverticula and ventral foregut in the embryological period. In this paper we want to present a case of bronchogenic cyst with continuous intrauterine cyst aspiration follow-up. After...

INTRODUCTION Bronchogenic cysts are rare congenital anomalies of the embryonic foregut. They are caused by abnormal budding of diverticulum of the embryonic foregut between the 26th and 40th day of gestation. Bronchogenic cysts can appear in the mediastinum and pulmonary parenchyma, or at ectopic sites (neck, subcutaneous tissue or abdomen). So far, 70 cases of cervical localization of bronchog...

Bronchogenic cysts originate from abnormal budding of the tracheal diverticula during the embryological period. Inaccuracy in the process of growing of the ventral foregut will give rise to bronchogenic cyst. Scapular bronchogenic cyst is an extremely rare form of this anomaly. A three years old boy suffered for 2 years with left sided suprascapular cystic lesion which was gradually increasing ...

Bronchogenic cysts frequently occur in the mediastinum. They may be rarely encountered in the abdomen and retroperitoneum. Bronchogenic cysts can in fact mimic hydatid cysts. We report a case of retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst below the right hemidiaphragm mimicking a hydatid cyst of the liver in a 30-year-old female.

We hereby report a case on bronchogenic cyst which is initially non-infected, then becomes infected after bronchoscopic ultrasound (US)-guided transesophageal fine-needle aspiration (FNA). The non-infected bronchogenic cyst appears to be filled with relatively echogenic materials on US, and the aspirate is a whitish jelly-like fluid. Upon contrast-enhanced MRI of the infected bronchogenic cyst,...

We report a rare case of a 3-year-old male child with scapular bronchogenic cyst. The cyst was excised because of associated pain and discharge from the swelling. Till date, 64 cases of cutaneous bronchogenic cyst have been reported in the literature. Only 12 of these patients had lesion located in periscapular area. The treatment is surgical as it can undergo malignant transformation.

Partial defect of the pericardium combined with bronchogenic cyst is a very rare congenital anomaly. We describe the case of a 32-year-old man with a partial defect of the left pericardium and a bronchogenic cyst arising from the border of the pericardial defect. The cyst was successfully resected with the harmonic scalpel by three-port videothoracoscopic approach.

A congenital malformation of the bronchial tree, known as bronchial cyst, is mostly found in the mediastinum or lung. Intracardiac bronchogenic cysts are quite rare and only two cases of right ventricular bronchogenic cyst have so far been reported. We herein report a case in which a cyst developed in the right ventricle of a 65-year-old Japanese male who presented with aphasia due to cerebral ...

Bronchogenic cysts are classified as a type of congenital foregut cyst. They are usually extrapulmonary and occur mostly along the tracheobronchial tree. Intracardiac bronchogenic cysts are very rare. As far as we know, only 3 cases have been reported previously. This paper presents a unique case of a 70-year-old male who was diagnosed with a bronchogenic cyst in the interatrial septum with a c...
