Botryosphaeria dothidea is a destructive pathogen infecting apple (Malus domestica) on the fruit and stem. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of B. dothidea (strain LW030101) using Illumina sequencing. The draft genome sequence provides useful information and acts as a platform for further research on the pathogen.

Apple ring rot disease, caused by Botryosphaeria dothidea (Moug. ex. Fr) Ces. et de Not., is one of the most important diseases on apple fruits. In this study, strain 9001 isolated from healthy apple fruits from an infested orchard was evaluated for its biocontrol activity against apple ring rot in vitro and in vivo. Strain 9001 showed obvious antagonistic activity to B. dothidea YL-1 when plat...

Botryosphaeria dieback is a fungal grapevine trunk disease that currently represents a threat for viticulture worldwide because of the important economical losses due to reduced yield of affected plants and their premature death. Neofusicoccum parvum and Diplodia seriata are among the causal agents. Vine green stems were artificially infected with N. parvum or D. seriata at the onset of three d...

Introduction The term jasmonates is used to describe lipid derivatives synthesized via octadecanoid pathway and are mainly represented by jasmonic acid (JA) and its ester methyl jasmonate (MJ). In plants, jasmonates act in the defense mechanism [1], and recent reports have attributed to JA and MJ the ability to inhibit the growth of human cancer cells, yet having cytotoxic selectivity [2]. Due ...

Microbial degradation offers an efficient and ecofriendly approach to remove toxicants from the contaminated environments. Botryosphaeria laricina JAS6 and Aspergillus tamarii JAS9 were capable of degrading endosulfan and their metabolites which were isolated through enrichment technique. Both the strains were able to withstand an exposure of 1300 mg/L and showed luxuriant growth at 1000 mg/L o...

The transformation of 22-hydroxy-23,24-bisnorchol-4-en-3-one to 7a-22-dihydroxy-23,24-bisnorchol-4-en3-one by Botryodiploida theobromae, Lasiodiplodia theobromae, and various Botryosphaeria strains is described. Factors affecting the reaction were incubation temperature, sonication of the substrate, and addition of 2,2'-dipyridyl, extra carbohydrate, and Amberlite XAD-7. The enzyme responsible ...

As a result of the increasing economic impact of grapevine trunk diseases on viticulture worldwide, efficient and viable control strategies are urgently needed. However, understanding both plant-pathogen interactions and plant physiological changes related to these diseases is fundamental to such an achievement. In this study, we analyzed the effect of inoculation with the Botryosphaeria diebac...

Here, we describe a novel mycovirus, tentatively designated as "Botryosphaeria dothidea mitovirus 3" (BdMV3), isolated from Botryosphaeria strain FJ, which causes pear ring rot disease in Fujian Province, China. The complete genome nucleotide sequence of BdMV3 is 2538 nt length and contains single 2070-nt open reading frame (ORF) encoding putative RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) 689 amino a...
