1,3-Diethyl-2-thio-barbituric acid reacts with 2,5-dimethoxy-benzaldehyde to form the title Knoevenagel product, C(19)H(22)N(2)O(4)S. In the compound, the two six-membered rings at either end of the three-membered -CHCHCH- chain are nearly coplanar with this fragment (r.m.s. deviation of the two six-membered rings and the three chain atoms = 0.08 Å).
A commercially available rhodium(II) complex catalyzes the direct arylation of 5-diazobarbituric acids with arenes, allowing straightforward access to 5-aryl barbituric acids. Free N-H groups are tolerated on the barbituric acid, with no complications arising from N-H insertion processes. This method was applied to the concise synthesis of a potent matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor.
The title compound, C25H26Cl2FN3O4S, contains two bio-active moieties (thio-barbituric acid and fluoro-quinolone). In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via C-H⋯O and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional slab-like networks lying parallel to the bc plane. The benzene ring substituted by F and Cl atoms and the 4-chloro-butyl group seem to be partly disordered, however attempts to model t...
Functionalization of Cinnamaldehyde to Arylidene Barbituric Acid Catalyzed by Samarium(III) Chloride
Multidrug resistance has become a factor seriously limiting treatment of various diseases, including bacterial (1ñ3) and fungal (4) infections and cancer (5ñ7). The major mechanism of multidrug resistance (MDR) in cancer is the over-expression of ATP-dependent drug-efflux pumps (drug transporters), which reduces the accumulation of agents. One of the most important mechanisms of MDR in cancer i...
Abstract: 5,5 ′ -Methylenebis(4–phenyl-4H -1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol) (2) was synthesized starting from hydrazinecarbothioamide compound (1). Treatment of compound 2 with ethyl bromoacetate produced diethyl 5,5 ′ -{methylenebis[(4phenyl-4H -1,2,4-triazole-5,3-diyl)thio]}diacetate (3), which was converted to the corresponding diacetohydrazide derivative (4) by treatment with hydrazine hydrate. The ...
1,3-Diethyl-2-thio-barbituric acid reacts with 2-anisaldehyde to form the Michael addition product 2-anisylbis(1,3-diethyl-2-thio-barbitur-5-yl)methanate, which crystallizes as the title pyridin-ium salt, C(5)H(6)N(+)·C(24)H(29)N(4)O(5)S(2) (-), when it reacts with the pyridine used to catalyse the reaction. There are two independent ion pairs in the crystal structure. The anion features a meth...
The solid–solid reactions of electron-donor compounds, such as: barbituric acid (1a), thiobarbituric acid (1b), 1,3-dimethyl barbituric acid (1c), phenol (1d) and resorcinol (1e) with diazotized o-nitroaniline (3), m-nitroaniline (4) and p-nitroaniline (5) catalyzed by p-toluenesulfonic acid (2) afford azo dyes by grinding in good yields. This new method totally avoids the use of inorganic acid...
