A long-chain amidoamine derivative (C18AA) acts as a normal organogelator in toluene, but changes to a heat-induced gelator, exhibiting a phase transition from sol to gel on heating upon addition of aqueous LiCl to the toluene gel. The thermal response of the heat-induced gel of C18AA was highly sensitive.

We report the analysis of a novel terpyridine based supramolecular hydrogel which shows fluorescent properties in the gel but not in the sol form; the gel forms in a narrow pH range in aqueous solutions specifically in the presence of sodium ions, and contains between 98% and 99.2% water.

It was shown that 5-chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline, an antituberculosis agent, gels aqueous alcohol solutions efficiently. Thermal stability and gel-to-sol transition temperature of 1% gel in CD₃OD/D₂O (2:1) was studied by ¹H-NMR.
