Two cases of anisocoria that occurred just after the induction of general anesthesia for living donor liver transplantation are reported. Space-occupying lesions were not observed in brain computed tomography. Mydriasis was temporary in both cases, suggesting that the anisocoria was most likely related to Adie syndrome.
Anisocoria during anesthesia is very rare, but may indicate life-threatening neurologic injuries and create tremendous condition. A 23-year-old male patient was anesthetized with fentanyl and propofol. Thirty minutes after inducing anesthesia, unilateral mydriasis was detected. The duration of surgery was shortened for prompt evaluation of the pupils. At the end of the operation neither vision ...
INTRODUCTION Bupropion is used to help people stop smoking. This drug can cause visual alterations but, up to now, its use was not associated with anisocoria. CASE REPORT A 40 year-old woman with a personal history of migraines, presented with monocular mydriasis during treatment with bupropion. Both pupils dilated equally after a 5% cocaine test, and constricted equally after a 0.025% Piloca...
"Don't Believe Your Eyes" Ipratropium Induced Mydriasis: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.
Unilateral fixed mydriasis can be an ominous sign; however in many cases, it is benign and represents pharmacologic mediated action on the iris dilator or sphincter. Differentiation between pharmacologic mediated anisocoria and physiologic anisocoria can be challenging but may save on costly imaging. An 83 year-old woman was admitted with critical limb ischemia and subsequently developed respir...
Transient anisocoria is rare during blowout fracture reconstruction. We report a case of transient anisocoria occurring during medial blowout fracture reconstruction and review the relevant literature. A 54-year-old woman was struck in the face and was admitted for a medial blowout fracture of the left eye. During the operation, persistent bleeding occurred. To control this bleeding, a 1% lidoc...

Etiologies of this clinical manifestation usually include systemic causes as neurological or vascular disorders, and local causes as congenital iris disorders and pharmacological effects. CASE REPORT We present a case of a 47-year-old man, suffering from spastic tetraparesis. After the oral surgery under general anesthesia, the...
