This paper describes some practical methods to calibrate the phase shifter in phase-shifting interferometry (PSI). The phase shifter used in the experiment is a piezoelectric transducer (PZT) that has a nonlinearity of <l%. Using the quantitative method described in this paper, the repeatability in the measurement of the phase-shifting angle is ̃9.046 rms, and the 3σ value is 0.139. A calibratio...

Seventy-five young, healthy adults completed a lateral weight-shifting activity in which each shifted his/her center of pressure (CoP) to visually displayed target locations with the aid of visual CoP feedback. Each subject's CoP data were modeled using a single-link inverted pendulum system with a spring-damper at the joint. This extends the simple inverted pendulum model of static balance in ...

Laser footprint size and beam divergence angle tuning was found to affect LiDAR data accuracy and measurement precision because of beam axis shifting. The laser beam divergence angle is generally tunable in modern LiDAR systems in order to adapt to different application scenarios. Beam divergence angle can either be switched from one position to the other (i.e. 0.3mRad / 0.8 mRad), or be tuned ...

The effect of currents of mass on bending of light rays is considered in the weak field regime. Following Fermat’s principle and the standard theory of gravitational lensing, we derive the gravitomagnetic correction to time delay function and deflection angle caused by a geometrically-thin lens. The cases of both rotating and shifting deflectors are discussed.

in this work, ag-cu nanoparticles (with different percentages of copper, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% cu) were synthesized by wet chemical method. copper(ii) sulfate and silver nitrate were taken as metal precursors, ascorbic acid as reducing agent and anhydride maleic (ma) as a modifier. the prepared nanoparticles were characterized by means of x-ray diffraction (xrd) technique and scanning electron mic...

Fast focusing scan over a large depth range is challenging in photoacoustic microscopic imaging. In this paper, a fast variable focus photoacoustic microscopy (VF-PAM) with a large range of imaging depth was presented by using an electrically tunable lens (ETL). The ETL controlled the divergence angle of the laser beam for fast and continuous focus-shifting in depth direction with the shifting ...

Phase errors in a Fizeau phase-shifting interferometer caused by multiple-reflected beams from a retroreflective optics, such as a corner cube and a right-angle prism, are studied. Single- and double-pass configurations are presented, and their measurement results are compared. An attenuator is not needed in a double-pass configuration because light is reflected by the retroreflective optics tw...

In this research, a rotating solar still that uses external bottom reflectors was experimentally investigated. The solar still and reflectors have the capability to shift their angle with respect to the south and the reflectors have the capability to shift their angle with respect to the horizon. The experiment has been performed in both fixed and rotating states. For the fixed state the solar ...
