9-Hydrazinoacridine irreversibly labeled pig plasma amine oxidase by covalent attachment to the active carbonyl cofactor. The visible absorption spectrum of the modified protein displays new absorption bands at 495 and 525 nm. Its emission spectrum exhibited maxima at 415 and 440 nm. In addition, both absorption and emission spectra were insensitive to pH changes between 6 and 10. Phase modulat...

living organisms. This class of enzymes is divided into two subclasses: FAD-containing amine oxidases (FAD-AOs) and Cu-containing amine oxidases (Cu-AOs). Two types of mitochondrial monoamine oxidases, monoamine oxidases (MAO)A and MAO-B, and cytosolic polyamine oxidase are included in FAD-AOs. The Cu-AOs consist of retina amine oxidase, diamine oxidase (DAO), and semicarbazide-sensitive amine ...

Effect of the basic property of reactants (tertiary amine catalysts, a substrate amine, and acid neutralizers) on catalytic dehydrocondensation between a carboxylic acid and an amine by using 2-chloro-4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazine (CDMT) was studied. The reaction yield was affected by the acid-base equilibrium among reactants. In dichloromethane, a representative aprotic solvent, a strongly basi...

We created a novel chimeric amine dehydrogenase (AmDH) via domain shuffling of two parent AmDHs ('L- and F-AmDH'), which in turn had been generated from leucine and phenylalanine DH, respectively. Unlike the parent proteins, the chimeric AmDH ('cFL-AmDH') catalyzes the amination of acetophenone to (R)-methylbenzylamine and adamantylmethylketone to adamantylethylamine.

Several compounds have been identified that display low-efficacy, "partial substrate" activity. Here, we tested the hypothesis that the mechanism of this effect is a slower rate of induced neurotransmitter efflux than that produced by full substrates. Biogenic amine transporter release assays were carried out in rat brain synaptosomes and followed published procedures. [(3)H]1-methyl-4-phenylpy...

Reduction of imines by [2,5-Ph2-3,4-Tol2(eta(5)-C4COH)]Ru(CO)2H (2) produces kinetically stable ruthenium amine complexes. Reduction of an imine by 2 in the presence of an external amine trap gives only the complex of the newly generated amine. Reaction of 2 with H2N-p-C6H4N=CHPh (11), which contains an intramolecular amine trap, gave a 1:1 mixture of [2,5-Ph2-3,4-Tol2(eta(4)-C4CO)](CO)2RuNH(CH...

Coating performance is greatly influenced by the properties of the wood substrate. This study was focused on evaluating the performance of coatings on both preservative- and thermally-treated wood. A number of commercially formulated semi-transparent stains Alkyd, Alkyd-Acrylic and PU were applied on four different types of preservative treated and heat-treated wood and their performances were ...

Modafinil [2-[(diphenylmethyl)sulfinyl]acetamide] is used clinically in the treatment of narcolepsy and sleeping disorders. The synthesis of modafinil, begins with the reaction of benzhydrol and thioglycolic acid in trifluoroacetic acid to afford benzhydrylsulfinyl acetic acid. The reaction of acid with thionyl chloride in benzene followed by treatment with ammonium hydroxide gave acetamide...

beta H-crystallin was exposed to radiolytically generated hydroxyl radicals at defined radical concentrations, and its capacity to act as an amine-acceptor substrate and as an amine-donor substrate for transglutaminase were investigated. [14C]Methylamine was used as a probe for labelling amine-acceptor sites; a novel biotinylated hexapeptide was used to label amine-donor sites. The results demo...
