A spatially resolved stochastic weighted particle method for inception–coagulation– advection problems is presented. Convergence to a deterministic limit is briefly studied. Numerical experiments are carried out for two problems with very different coagulation kernels. These tests show the method to be robust and confirm the convergence properties. The robustness of the weighted particle method...

In this paper, the exponential B-spline functions are used for the numerical solution of the advection-diffusion equation. Two numerical examples related to pure advection in a finitely long channel and the distribution of an initial Gaussian pulse are employed to illustrate the accuracy and the efficiency of the method. Obtained results are compared with some early studies.

In this work we solve the set of hydrodynamical equations for accretion disks in the spherical coordinates (r,θ,ϕ) to obtain the explicit structure along θ direction. We study a two-dimensional advective accretion disc in the presence of thermal conduction. We find self-similar solutions for an axisymmetric, rotating, steady, viscous-resistive disk. We show that the global structure of an advec...

systems in which reaction terms are coupled to diffusion and advection transports arise in awide range of chemical engineering applications, physics, biology and environmental. in these cases, thecomponents of the unknown can denote concentrations or population sizes which represent quantities andthey need to remain positive. classical finite difference schemes may produce numerical drawbacks s...

In this paper, we consider the variable-order Galilei advection diffusion equation with a nonlinear source term. A numerical scheme with first order temporal accuracy and second order spatial accuracy is developed to simulate the equation. The stability and convergence of the numerical scheme are analyzed. Besides, another numerical scheme for improving temporal accuracy is also developed. Fina...

The Zwack–Okossi vorticity tendency equation was used to calculate 500-hPa height tendencies in two intensifying Southern Hemisphere blocking events. The National Centers for Environmental Prediction– National Center for Atmospheric Research gridded reanalyses were used to make each of these calculations. The block intensification period for each event was associated with a deepening surface cy...

In this note, equations for enstrophy and enstrophy advection are derived in terms of well-known quantities, assuming horizontal frictionless flow on a beta-plane. Specifically, enstrophy can be written in terms of the geopotential (or pressure), relative vorticity, zonal wind, and resultant deformation. Enstrophy advection is shown to be related to the time evolution of deformation and ageostr...

In this paper we first briefly review the semi-analytical method [20] for solving the Derivative Riemann Problem for systems of hyperbolic conservation laws with source terms. Next, we generalize it to hyperbolic systems for which the Riemann problem solution is not available. As an application example we implement the new derivative Riemann solver in the high-order finite-volume ADER advection...
