Neutrinos play a fundamental role in several fields of physics from cosmology down to particle physics. Even more, the observation of a non-vanishing rest mass of neutrinos would have a big impact on our present model of particle physics and might guide towards grand unified theories. Currently three evidences exist showing effects of massive neutrinos: the deficit in solar neutrinos, the zenit...

The Vienna Environmental Research Accelerator (VERA) is a dedicated facility for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), operated at the University of Vienna since 1996. The principle of AMS with VERA and the advantage of measuring long-lived radioisotopes by atom counting (AMS) rather than decay counting (ß decay) is described. A brief overview on AMS applications is also presented.

This report summarizes topics in hadron spectroscopy and production which could be addressed at CEBAF with an energy upgrade to Eγ = 8 GeV and beyond. The topics discussed include conventional meson and baryon spectroscopy, spectroscopy of exotica (especially molecules and hybrids), CP and CPT tests using φ mesons, and new detector and accelerator options.

We present a newly developed macromolecular ion accelerator mass spectrometer that combines a dual-ion-trap device and a macromolecular ion accelerator (MIA) to achieve the capability of analyzing samples with a mixture of large biomolecules. MIA greatly increases detection efficiency. The dual ion trap includes a quadrupole ion trap (QIT) and a linear ion trap (LIT) in tandem. The dual ion tra...
