Climate change plays an important role in the transition of ecosystems. Stratigraphic investigations have suggested that the Asian interior experienced frequent transitions between grassland and desert ecosystems as a consequence of global climate change. Using maternally and bi-parentally inherited markers, we investigated the population dynamics of Agriophyllum squarrosum (Chenopodiaceae), an...
Recently there has been an increase in the demand of polysaccharides. Polysaccharides from plants have the advantage over those from animals because of their friendly image towards consumers. A lot of work has been done to study the chemical composition and functionality of polysaccharides. However, there is still place in the polysaccharide market for new sources of plant polysaccharides. Acan...
Sphagnum riparium (Bryophyta) is recorded and described from the Wedel Jarlsberg Land on Spitsbergen, the Arctic Svalbard Archipelago. It is the northernmost known population of the species in the Northern Hemisphere. The distribution of the two known Sphagnum species in the Hornsund area, viz. S. riparium and S. squarrosum is mapped and described.
A new dolabellane diterpene glycoside, named squoside A, and three new cycloartane glycosides, named squarrosides V, VI, and VII, have been isolated from the dried aerial parts of Thalictrum squarrosum (Ranunculaceae). Their structures were determined by two dimensional (2D) NMR spectroscopic analysis and chemical evidence.
Four new triterpene glycosides were isolated from the dried aerial parts of Thalictrum squarrosum (Ranunculaceae). They were designated as squarroside I, being a cycloartane-type glycoside, and squarrosides II, III and IV, being oleanene-type glycosides. Their structures were established by using two dimensional (2D) NMR techniques.
Plant species affect soil bacterial diversity and compositions. However, little is known about the role of dominant plant species in shaping the soil bacterial community during the restoration of sandy grasslands in Horqin Sandy Land, northern China. We established a mesocosm pots experiment to investigate short-term responses of soil bacterial diversity and composition, and the related soil pr...
Vineyards are among the land uses with highest soil degradation rate in Mediterranean Europe, mainly due to intensive tillage management. Therefore, practices able foster health critical promote sustainable wine production. We studied following treatments two organic farms Chianti Classico (Italy): conventional tillage, spontaneous vegetation, pigeon bean (Vicia faba var. minor) incorporated sp...
