GH participates in growth, metabolism, and cellular differentiation. To study these roles, we previously generated two different dwarf mouse lines, one expressing a GH antagonist (GHA) and the other having a disrupted GH receptor and binding protein gene (GHR -/-). In this study we compared the two dwarf lines in the same genetic background (C57BL/6J). One of the most striking differences betwe...

As the world urbanizes, the role of cities in determining sustainability outcomes grows in importance. Cities are the dominant form of human habitat, and most of the world's resources are either directly or indirectly consumed in cities. Sustainable city analysis and management requires understanding the demands a city places on a wider geographical area and its ecological resource base. We pre...

Beauveria bassiana (Bb) strain GHA is a major component of an integrated pest management (IPM) program for coffee berry borer (CBB) in Hawai‘i. Efforts to measure effectiveness spray applications have been complicated by activity naturally-occurring Bb. Studies were thus designed provide more accurate efficacy assessments accounting this natural activity. BotaniGard® ES + Widespread Max® (WSM) ...

The Generalized Hebbian Algorithm is shown to be equivalent to Latent Semantic Analysis, and applicable to a range of LSAstyle tasks. GHA is a learning algorithm which converges on an approximation of the eigen decomposition of an unseen frequency matrix given observations presented in sequence. Use of GHA allows very large datasets to be processed.

The first step in the activation of the classical complement pathway, by immune complexes, involves the binding of the globular heads of C1q to the Fc regions of aggregated IgG or IgM. Located C-terminal to the collagen region, each globular head is composed of the C-terminal halves of one A (ghA), one B (ghB), and one C chain (ghC). To dissect their structural and functional autonomy, we have ...

Locating GHA to address the digital divide in global health research GHA was launched at the end of May 2008 as a collaborative effort between Umeå Centre for Global Health Research at Umeå University and Co-Action Publishing. The journal was established to ‘contribute to fuelling a more concrete, hands-on approach to global health challenge’, and to address the global health agenda, with a str...

ITE JOURNAL / MARCH 2001 THE ORLANDO-ORANGE COUNTY Expressway Authority (OOCEA) operates a 132-kilometer toll-road system in Orange County, FL, USA. This network includes 10 mainline toll plazas and 38 tollbooth ramps in operation. In mid-May 1994, the state-of-the-art electronic toll collection (ETC) system known as E-PASS that utilizes automated vehicle identification (AVI) technology was ins...

A novel hardware architecture for fast spike sorting is presented in this paper. The architecture is able to perform feature extraction based on the Generalized Hebbian Algorithm (GHA). The employment of GHA allows efficient computation of principal components for subsequent clustering and classification operations. The hardware implementations of GHA features high throughput and low area costs...

This paper presents a novel hardware architecture for fast spike sorting. The architecture is able to perform both the feature extraction and clustering in hardware. The generalized Hebbian algorithm (GHA) and fuzzy C-means (FCM) algorithm are used for feature extraction and clustering, respectively. The employment of GHA allows efficient computation of principal components for subsequent clust...

Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) isolates from Lygus hesperus (Knight) and Lygus lineolaris (Palisot de Beauvois) are being evaluated as potential microbial control candidates for both Lygus species. Based on previous work with a large collection of isolates from both Lygus species, eight isolates were evaluated for characteristics relevant to mycoinsecticide development. These characteristics incl...
