In the decades since alcoholism became widely recognized as a disease (Jellinek, 1960), evidence for alcohol-induced physical damage has accumulated both in quantity and in detail. Prominent amongst the affected organ systems at-risk is the brain, which responds to alcohol in a variety of ways. Free radicals formed during metabolism of alcohol damage the brain. Acetaldehyde, which is generated ...
My research interests center in the design and analysis of algorithms, especially in large decentralized networks. My main focus has largely been on algorithmic game theory, and more specifically on networks involving strategic agents. In order to understand such networks, I also study diffusion processes in social networks, and more generally approximation algorithms. An increasing number of n...
This paper proposes the t-class of SOBER stream ciphers: t8, t16 and t32. t8, t16 and t32 offer 64-, 128and 256-bit key strength respectively. The t-class ciphers are based on the same principles as the original SOBER family: SOBER [17], SOBER-II [18], S16 and S32 [19], utilising the structure SOBER-II and S16 are based. The t-class ciphers are software stream ciphers designed for software impl...
Two ways of mounting distinguishing attacks on two similar stream ciphers, SOBER-t16 and SOBER-t32, are proposed. It results in distinguishing attacks faster than exhaustive key search on full SOBERt16 and on SOBER-t32 without stuttering.
Elliot Sober ([2001]) forcefully restates his well-known counterexample to Reichenbach's principle of the common cause: bread prices in Britain and sea levels in Venice both rise over time and are, therefore, correlated; yet they are ex hypothesi not causally connected, which violates the principle of the common cause. The counterexample employs nonstationary dataÐi.e., data with time-dependent...
