The model for effort-reward imbalance (ERI) at work, originally formulated by Siegrist’s group on European samples, has been receiving considerable attention in occupational health research because of its predictive power for adverse health outcomes . This model defines stressful experiences at work as an imbalance between high effort expended and low reward received. ‘Effort’ is evaluated by m...

of this project, a hardware monitor is being developed to observe the SAN traffic. This hardware monitor is therefore capable of delivering detailed information about the run-time communication behaviour of applications run on SMiLE clusters. The central part of this monitor consists of a content-addressable counter array managing a small working set of the most recently referenced memory regio...
We propose a novel method for learning Chinese word embeddings. Different from previous approaches, we investigate the effectiveness of the Chinese stroke-level information when learning Chinese word embeddings. Empirically, our model consistently outperforms several state-of-the-art methods, including skipgram, cbow, GloVe and CWE, on the standard word similarity and word analogy tasks.
Collaborative Working Environments (CWEs) enable an efficient collaboration between professionals, specially those settled in different locations of a company or stakeholders from different companies. This can be of great help for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as an effective way to share information. However, it can be difficult for SMEs to have access to a fully integrated CWE providin...
Whole glove testing for a metalworking fluid (MWF) in the field was performed for the first time. Green latex gloves used in a machine shop were exposed for 20 min to MWF. The permeated amount (1.0 +/- 0.5 microg/cm(2)) was higher than the threshold (0.25 microg/cm(2)) for the ASTM F739-99a closed-loop normalized breakthrough time.
European Respiratory Society guidelines on the management of work-related asthma recommend that occupational asthma with an allergic mechanism should be diagnosed by both identifying the workplace as the cause, and confirming sensitisation to the asthmagen by specific inhalational challenge (SIC), in the absence of any available specific IgE tests [1, 2]. Used (contaminated) metalworking fluid ...
