Nitric oxide is a pollutant linked to the production of smog and acid rain in the environment. Due to the increase in production of nitric oxide, scientists have attempted to increase methods to detect the pollutant at low and high concentrations. Scientists have investigated gas sensors because of their low cost, sensitivity to gases at low concentrations, and fast response time. WO3 gas sensi...

In recent years, nanostructured materials have attracted much attention due to their large surface area and size dependent properties, which offer great advantages in various applications. Tungsten trioxide (WO3), a well-known transition metal oxide, has evoked wide interest owing to its distinctive physical and chemical properties that make it suitable for extensive applications in electrochro...

(001)-oriented monoclinic nanorod and microplate WO3 films are fabricated on commercial FTO-coated glass substrates by a rubbing seed layer and a spin-coating seed layer assisted by hydrothermal reactions. The nanorod film obtained by the rubbing seed layer assisted by hydrothermal reactions is more regular and perpendicular to the substrate.

The dynamics of the local electronic and geometric structures of WO3 following photoexcitation were studied by femtosecond time-resolved X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy using an X-ray free electron laser (XFEL). We found that the electronic state was the first to change followed by the local structure, which was affected within 200 ps of photoexcitation.

Photoactive in one step! A nanocomposite water-oxidation photocatalyst was assembled by a straightforward and one-step spin-coating procedure of a Ti- and Ni-containing molecule on nanostructured WO3. The photoanode oxidizes water to O2 with good activity and stability in alkaline solution, and thereby features light absorption, charge separation and water-oxidation catalysis (see scheme).

High aspect ratio of WO3-loaded TiO2 nanotube arrays have been successfully synthesized using the electrochemical anodization method in an ethylene glycol electrolyte containing 0.5 wt% ammonium fluoride in a range of applied voltage of 10–40 V for 30 min. The novelty of this research works in the one-step formation of WO3-loaded TiO2 nanotube arrays composite film by using tungsten as the cath...

Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) at room temperature with a nanosecond laser was used to prepare WO3 layers on both MEMS microheater platforms and Si/SiO2 substrates. Structural characterization showed that the layers are formed of nanoparticles and nanoparticle agglomerates. Two types of layers were prepared, one at an oxygen partial pressure of 0.08 mbar and one at 0.2 mbar. The layer structure ...
