Having arguably led the world in the transition to a high carbon economy, much of Wales today is economically and socially deprived. Even so, a devolved Welsh Government has set ambitious targets to reduce carbon emissions in the devolved areas, while creating employment and economic opportunities, reducing fuel poverty, thereby helping to solve Wales’ entrenched social and economic problems. A...

The background shows a water layer on the graphene containing Stone–Wales and double vacancy defects. The structural and electronic properties of the systems have been studied by density functional tight-binding method, to understand graphene's stable electronic characteristics. Defects are inevitably present in graphene and can alter its properties and thus its applications. Interestingly, we ...

Two population surveys were conducted near old lead workings in Wales. The first, at Y Fan in the middle of Wales, gave evidence suggestive of a gradient in blood lead level, highest in subjects resident close to the contaminated spoil heaps, and lowest in those who lived in farms some distance away. However, the gradient was significant (P less than 0.05) only in males, and all but one of the ...

The population-based cancer registry data on patients with cervical cancer in Finland and South Wales in 1960--69 were analysed for survival. Patients with carcinoma-in-situ experienced essentially the normal life expectancy. Those with invasive carcinoma experienced 75% of normal post-registration life expectancy in Finland but only 45% in South Wales. The difference was due to higher frequenc...

This pragmatic work was undertaken to assist commissioners of health services in Wales in their planning for future provision of services for neurological and neurosurgical patients. A literature search, which was carried out to ascertain the epidemiology of neurological and neurosurgical disorders in Wales, revealed limited epidemiological surveys of patients in Wales, while other literatures ...

In this paper, we improve b-spline collocation method for Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers (BBMB) by using defect correction principle. The exact finite difference scheme is used to find defect and the defect correction principle is used to improve collocation method. The method is tested on somemodel problems and the numerical results have been obtained and compared.

Since the discovery of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), they have received a lot attention because their unusual mechanical electrical properties. Strain rate is one key factors that plays vital role in enhancing properties nanocomposites. In this study, (4, 4) armchair single-walled nanotube (SWCNT) was employed with polymer matrix as polypropylene (PP). The influence compressive strain on SWCNT/PP na...
