Phytophthora sojae is an oomycete responsible for seed, root and stem rot of soybean plants. Managing this disease relies on growing soybean cultivars with race-specific resistance (Rps) genes that deliver complete host immunity in the presence of corresponding pathogen avirulence (Avr) effector proteins. The aims of this study were to characterize virulence towards Rps2 among different P. soja...

Candida albicans has the ability to change between yeast and hyphal cells and is known to be a virulence property. Efg1gene of C.albicans is as a main transcription factor that plays pivotal roles in biofilm formation The aim of the current study is to investigate the presence of Efg1 gene in Candida albicans isolates from women with vaginal candidiasis and its impact on biofilm formation. We us...

We have identified a Crp/Fnr-like transcriptional regulator of Streptococcus pyogenes that when inactivated attenuates virulence. The gene, named srv for streptococcal regulator of virulence, encodes a 240-amino-acid protein with 53% amino acid similarity to PrfA, a transcriptional activator of virulence in Listeria monocytogenes.

aeromonas hydrophila secretes several extracellular proteins including enterotoxin, hemolysin and aerolysin that are associated with the bacterial virulence. previous studies have shown that two hemolytic toxins, hemolysin a and aerolysin a contribute to the virulence of aeromonas hydrophila. in the current study, a total of 50 strains of aeromonas hydrophila, including 28 (56%) strains isolate...

INTRODUCTION The prevalence of virulence genes in non-typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) and its association with commonly used antibiotics in West Africa is unknown. METHODOLOGY We tested 185 NTS isolates from children, animals, and food products for the presence of twelve virulence genes by PCR. Ten of the virulence genes tested belonged to the five Salmonella pathogenicity islands implicated in it...

Understanding virulence is vital for the development of novel therapeutics to target infections with community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA), which cause an ongoing epidemic in the United States and are on a global rise. However, what defines virulence particularly of global CA-MRSA lineages is poorly understood. Threatening a vast population, the predominant ...

Leaf rust (caused by Puccinia triticina Eriks—Pt) occurs regularly in the Czech Republic and can inflict considerable yield losses on wheat, particularly southeastern part of country warm dry years. Knowledge resistance genes (Lr) is useful breeding, when combined with data virulence population. Seeds 56 winter wheat cultivars registered were obtained from Central Institute for Supervising Test...

Fusarium graminearum is a causal organism of head blight in cereals and maize. Although few secondary metabolites produced by F. are considered disease virulence factors, many molecular products biosynthetic gene clusters expressed during infection their associated role the unknown. In particular, predicted meroterpenoid cluster historically designated as “C16” likely with pathogenicity. Presen...

Thirty-eight Escherichia coli strains belonging to 14 human enteropathogenic serogroups were isolated from 33 of 208 water samples studied. No virulence factor or virulence-related gene sequences were found in any of the 38 strains analyzed. The results point out the importance of detecting specific virulence factors before incriminating water as a source of human diarrhea.

The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of virulence genes, perform typing for the characterization of Arcanobacterium pyogenes field strains, and investigate the correlation between clonal types, virulence genes and occurence of disease. The isolates (n=51) used in this study were isolated from different sources (liver (n=4) of sheep; liver (n=25), lungs (n=5), broncho-alveolar...
