This note establishes that the familiar internal characterizations of the Tychonoff spaces whose rings of continuous real-valued functions are complete, or σ-complete, as lattice ordered rings already hold in the larger setting of pointfree topology. In addition, we prove the corresponding results for rings of integer-valued functions.
In computable mathematics, there are known definitions of computable numbers, computable metric spaces, computable compact sets, and computable functions. A traditional definition of a computable function, however, covers only continuous functions. In many applications (e.g., in phase transitions), physical phenomena are described by discontinuous or multi-valued functions (a.k.a. constraints)....
This paper investigates the approximation of set-valued functions with compact images (not necessarily convex), by adaptations of the Schoenberg spline operators and the Bernstein polynomial operators. When replacing the sum between numbers in these operators, by the Minkowski sum between sets, the resulting operators approximate only set valued functions with compact-convex images [10]. To obt...
Motivated by aspects of reasoning in theories of physics, Robin Giles defined a characterization of infinite valued Lukasiewicz logic in terms of a game that combines Lorenzen-style dialogue rules for logical connectives with a scheme for betting on results of dispersive experiments for evaluating atomic propositions. We analyze this game and provide conditions on payoff functions that allow us...
We prove a new criterion that guarantees self-adjointness of Toeplitz operators with unbounded operator-valued symbols. Our applies, in particular, to symbols Lipschitz continuous derivatives, which is the natural class Hamiltonian functions for classical mechanics. For this we extend Berger-Coburn estimate case vector-valued Segal-Bargmann spaces. Finally, apply our result (operator-valued) qu...
In point set topology—or, more precisely, in the part of it once called "theory of abstract spaces"—there are two principal methods of investigation. The first one refers to the topological space alone(2) ; we shall call it the internal method : for example the separation axioms Po, Pi, T2 [A-H], the notions of regularity, normality, compactness, are expressed in terms of the topological space ...
In this paper, we define the almost uniform convergence and the almost everywhere convergence for cone-valued functions with respect to an operator valued measure. We prove the Egoroff theorem for Pvalued functions and operator valued measure θ : R → L(P, Q), where R is a σ-ring of subsets of X≠ ∅, (P, V) is a quasi-full locally convex cone and (Q, W) is a locally ...
