We describe the unusual occurrence of atrial fibrillation immediately after a seizure in a young patient with cyclosporine toxicity. The new onset atrial fibrillation was triggered by high levels of cyclosporine and possibly facilitated by the electrolyte imbalances post seizure and the presence of underlying mild left atrial enlargement.

We report an unusual case of granulocytic sarcoma involving the temporal bone. The occurrence of this tumor usually heralds acute myelogenous leukemia or the onset of the blastic phase of chronic myelogenous leukemia. Recognition of this rare entity is important, because early aggressive chemotherapy can cause regression of the tumor, as in our case, and thus improve patient longevity.

Massive occurrence of polyglucosan bodies (PBs) was found within the surgically removed temporal lobe of a 34 year old woman with complex partial seizures. This peculiar feature is very unusual in neuropathological examinations of epileptogenic foci. This patient could not be included in any of the classic diseases in which PBs are found. She exhibited a localised form of glycogen storage disease.

Extraosseous multiple myeloma involving the larynx is rare. We describe a patient with multiple myeloma and a plasmacytoma involving the thyroid cartilage. We highlight the importance of recognising this as a differential diagnosis for acute limb pain in diabetic patients and advocate conservative measures for successful treatment and return to function.

SUMMARY We report an unusual case of atypical cystic meningioma of the trigeminal nerve proved by histology in a 15-year-old white girl. A review of the literature showed that this is only the second reported case of a meningioma of the trigeminal nerve without dural attachment and the first occurrence in a pediatric patient.

Direct extension of a glioblastoma through the dura at the skull base is an uncommon occurrence. We report an unusual case of recurrent glioblastoma that spread transdurally through the foramen ovale and presented primarily as a masticator space mass. There was mandibular denervation and a relative paucity of intracranial disease.

In this paper we evaluate and discuss the tissue damage due to Anisakis larvae in experimentally infected sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). This is the first endoscopic and laparoscopic study, that has revealed in two fishes hemorrhages and/or nodules on the serosal surface of the intestine. The evidence of tissue change is an unusual occurrence in Anisakis infected teleost fish.
