The problem addressed in this paper is the non-preemptive unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem with the objective of minimizing the makespan. Machine-dependent and job sequence-dependent setup times are considered, all jobs are available at time zero, and all times are deterministic. This is a NP-hard problem and in this paper, optimal solutions are found for small problems only. For l...
We consider the problem of scheduling jobs that arrive online in the unrelated machine model to minimize `k norms of weighted flowtime. In the unrelated setting, the processing time and weight of a job depends on the machine it is assigned to, and it is perhaps the most general machine model considered in scheduling literature. Chadha et al. [10] obtained a recent breakthrough result in obtaini...
This paper gives a new application of DEA to evaluate the scheduling solutions of parallel processing. It evaluates the scheduling solutions of parallel processing using the non-convex DEA model, FDH model. By introducing each solution of parallel processing scheduling as a DMU with some relevant inputs and outputs this paper shows that how the most efficient schedule(s) can be identified.
The paper considers the problem of preemptive scheduling in a two-stage flowshop with parallel unrelated machines at the first stage and a single machine at the second stage. At the first stage, jobs use some additional renewable resources which are available in limited quantities. The resource requirements are of 0-1 type. The objective is minimization of the makespan. The problem is NP-hard. ...
m unrelated parallel machines scheduling problems with variable job processing times are considered, where the processing time of a job is a function of its position in a sequence, its starting time, and its resource allocation. The objective is to determine the optimal resource allocation and the optimal schedule to minimize a total cost function that dependents on the total completion (waitin...
| Runtime Incremental Parallel Scheduling (RIPS) is an alternative strategy to the commonly used dynamic scheduling. In this scheduling strategy, the system scheduling activity alternates with the underlying computation work. RIPS utilizes the advanced parallel scheduling technique to produce a low-overhead, high-quality load balancing, as well as adapting to irregular applications. This paper ...

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>In today's competitive world, scheduling problems are one of the most important and vital issues. In this study, a bi-objective unrelated parallel machine problem with worker allocation, sequence dependent setup times, precedence constraints, eligibility is presented. The objective functions to minimize costs tardiness hiring workers. order formulate proposed ...
In this paper we deal with the problem of assigning a set of n jobs, with release dates and tails, to either one of two unrelated parallel machines and scheduling each machine so that the makespan is minimized. This problem will be denoted by R2jri; qijCmax. The model generalizes the problem on one machine 1jri; qijCmax, for which a very ecient algorithm exists. In this paper we describe a Bra...
