In medical applications such as recognizing the type of a tumor as Malignant or Benign, a wrong diagnosis can be devastating. Methods like Fuzzy Support Vector Machines (FSVM) try to reduce the effect of misplaced training points by assigning a lower weight to the outliers. However, there are still uncertain points which are similar to both classes and assigning a class by the given information...

Multicast communication is a signiicant operation in multicomputer systems and can be used to support several other collective communication operations. Hardware implementation is a viable solution to develop a low latency multicast algorithm. In this paper, we present a new multicast routing algorithm for two-dimensional meshes. The algorithm uses wormhole routing mechanism and can send messag...

Background Phase-contrast magnetic resonance (PC-MR) allows non-invasive calculation of vascular flow, peak velocities and shunts. The technique, however, has inherent limitations, one of which is background phase errors. Various background phase correction (BPC) algorithms have been developed. The aim of this study is to apply various commercially available BPC algorithms in pediatric patients...

The study of the basic model for incompressible two-phase flows with phase transitions in the case of equal densities, initiated in the paper Prüss, Shibata, Shimizu, and Simonett [16], is continued here with a stability analysis of equilibria and results on asymptotic behaviour of global solutions. The results parallel those for the thermodynamically consistent Stefan problem with surface tens...

The one-phase reduction of the Stefan problem, where the phase change temperature is a variable, is analysed. It is shown that problems encountered in previous analyses may be traced back to an incorrectly formulated Stefan condition. Energy conserving reductions for Cartesian, cylindrically and spherically symmetric problems are presented and compared with solutions to the two-phase problem.

Estimation of total snow mass by means of SAR interferometry is problematic, due to high sensitivity of the interferometric phase to the snow water equivalent, leading to the phase unwrapping problem. In this paper, we pursue a recently proposed technique, delta-k interferometric phase estimation, that avoids phase wrapping by lowering the sensitivity of the interferometric phase to the snow wa...

This paper presents Locality-Aware Two-Phase (LATP) I/O, an optimization of the Two-Phase collective I/O technique from ROMIO, the most popular MPI-IO implementation. In order to increase the locality of the file accesses, LATP employs the Linear Assignment Problem (LAP) for finding an optimal distribution of data to processes, an aspect that is not considered in the original technique. This as...

the inventory routing problem (irp) arises in the context of vendor-managed systems. this problem addresses jointly solving an inventory management problem and a vehicle routing problem. in this paper, we consider a multi-depot multi-vehicle inventory routing problem in which suppliers produce one type of product to be delivered to customers during a finite time horizon. we propose a two-phase ...
