Six year-round, all-forage, three-paddock systems for beef cow-calf production were used to produce five calf crops during a 6-yr period. Forages grazed by cows during spring, summer, and early fall consisted of one paddock of 1) tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.)-ladino clover (Trifolium repens L.) or 2) Kentucky blue-grass (Poa pratensis L.)-white clover (Trifolium repens L.). Each of ...

This article examines a false memory phenomenon, the Deese-Roediger-McDermott (DRM) effect, consisting of high false alarms for a prototype word (e.g., SLEEP) following a study list consisting of its associates (NIGHT, DREAM, etc.). This false recognition is thought to occur because prototypes, although not presented within a study list, are highly activated by their semantic association with w...

Dehydrins (group 2 LEA proteins) tend to accumulate late in embryogenesis and in response to stress leading to cell dehydration (e.g., drought, low temperature, and salinity). The expression pattern of group 2 LEA genes is frequently associated with higher tolerance of crop plants to abiotic stresses such as cold and drought. All dehydrins have at least one conserved, lysine-rich 15-amino acid ...

We present here the complete genome sequences of a novel polerovirus from Trifolium subterraneum (subterranean clover) and Cicer arietinum (chickpea) and compare these to a partial viral genome sequence obtained from Macroptilium lathyroides (phasey bean). We propose the name phasey bean mild yellows virus for this novel polerovirus.

Intercropping plays an essential role in agricultural production, impacting the soil’s physical and chemical properties microbial communities. However, responses of ammonia-oxidizing microorganisms continuous-cropping soil to different intercropping systems growing seasons are still insufficiently studied. Here, we investigated effects seven (alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)/cucumber, trifolium (Tr...
