The histologic response of the periodontal tissues of teeth rigidly joined to implants with a fixed partial denture was evaluated using light microscopy. The fourth premolar of a dog was connected to implants placed in the first and second premolar position with a fixed partial denture. The restored teeth were under function for periods of 6, 12, 18, and 24 months, with unrestored fourth premol...

AIM The objective of this study was to compare the effects of ferric sulphate (FS) to that of the full strength of formocresol (Buckley's formula) (FC) as pulpotomy agents in primary human molar teeth 42-48 months after treatment. This was to assess the succeeding premolar teeth for decalcification, abnormal morphology or any other defect. METHODS Seventy children, ranging in age from 3 to 6 ...

To achieve proper recontouring of anterior and posterior teeth, to obtain optimal morphology during enamel stripping, it is important to be aware of dental anatomy. This study aimed at evaluating crown dimensions and proximal enamel thickness in a sample of 40 extracted sound, human, mandibular, second bicuspids (20 right and 20 left). Mesiodistal, cervico-occlusal and buccolingual crown dimens...

The aim of this paper was to review in vitro and in situ studies that directly compared the use of bovine teeth as a substitute for human teeth in dental experiments. A PubMed search was conducted for papers published from 1953 to December 30, 2010 using the following keywords: "human bovine enamel" or "human bovine dentin" or "human bovine teeth". The abstracts of the studies resulting from th...

Dental caries is the most common chronic childhood disease. Deep caries and dental trauma are the two main etiologic factors responsible for pulp involvement. Better knowledge of the morphology of the root canals of deciduous teeth can improve the outcome of pulp treatment. In this study, 90 deciduous molar teeth (27 first mandibular molars, 27 first maxillary molars, 22 second mandibular molar...

Two fused cyclopentadithiophenebis(dicyanovinylene) derivatives (FCPDT-16 and FCPDT-C24) with a low-lying LUMO energy level (3.88 eV) and a rigid core structurewere successfully synthesized. They have good thermal stability and form highly ordered packing structures both in the bulk solid state and in thin films. The field effect transistors fabricated from a solution of these two compounds show...

A pyrene-fused phenazinothiadiazole that shows electron mobilities (μe = 0.016 cm(2) V(-1) s(-1)) two orders of magnitude higher than those reported for pyrene-fused pyrazaacenes is described.

Success in root canal treatment is achieved after thorough cleaning, shaping, and obturation of the root canal system. This clinical case describes conventional root canal treatment of an unusual mandibular first molar with six root canals. The prognosis for endodontic treatment in teeth with abnormal morphology is unfavorable if the clinician fails to recognize extra root canals.

An accurate diagnosis of the morphology of the root canal system is a pre-requisite for successful root canal treatment. Frequently, root canals are left untreated because the clinicians fail to identify their presence, particularly in teeth that have anatomical variations or additional root canals. In this report a maxillary lateral incisor with two roots has been described.

anatomy of the root canal system always effects endodontic treatment outcome. mandibular premolar teeth show extreme variations in root canal morphology. first premolars usually exhibit basic one root and one canal anatomy. the occurrence of three roots in mandibular first premolar has not been commonly reported in literature. this article reports a case of successful nonsurgical endodontic man...
