露地野菜作において問題となるゴウシュウアリタソウ（Dysphania pumilio (R.Br.) Mosyakin et Clemants）を対象に，千葉県の生産者の有機秋冬ニンジン栽培ほ場で太陽熱処理による出芽抑制効果を実証した。その結果，畝立て後の7月から8月にかけて13日（40°C以上積算時間98.5 hr）以上透明ポリエチレンフィルムで畝を被覆すると，処理後のニンジン播種後28日間ゴウシュウアリタソウの出芽が完全に抑制された。出芽抑制効果は処理後の耕起によって低下したことから，出芽抑制効果を安定化させるためには，処理終了後は耕起を行わず播種する技術の励行が必要である。
