A novel and efficient Cu(I)-catalyzed oxidative homocoupling of terminal alkynes with diaziridinone as an oxidant is described. Various terminal alkynes can be transformed into the corresponding 1,3-diynes in good yields. The reaction process is base-free, operationally simple, and amenable to the gram scale.

A facile method for the synthesis of highly fluorinated reduced graphene oxide from graphene oxide using BF3-OEt2 solution and alkylthiol/alkylamine on the Gram scale has been described using a detailed mechanism. The maximum fluorination was as high as 38 wt% and the fluorinated reduced graphene oxide produced has great wettability and high insulating properties.

Simple strategies for using alkene reductase enzymes to produce gram-scale quantities of both (R)- and (S)-citronellal have been developed. The methodology is easily accessible to non-specialist laboratories, allowing alkene reductases to be added to the toolbox of routine synthetic transformations.
