ABA has been widely acknowledged to regulate ethylene biosynthesis and signaling during fruit ripening, but the molecular mechanism underlying the interaction between these two hormones are largely unexplored. In the present study, exogenous ABA treatment obviously promoted fruit ripening as well as ethylene emission, whereas NDGA (Nordihydroguaiaretic acid, an inhibitor of ABA biosynthesis) ap...

Sugars, organic acids and volatiles of apricot were determined by HPLC and GC-MS during fruit development and ripening, and the key taste and aroma components were identified by integrating flavor compound contents with consumers' evaluation. Sucrose and glucose were the major sugars in apricot fruit. The contents of all sugars increased rapidly, and the accumulation pattern of sugars converted...

The involvement of ethylene response factor (ERF) transcription factor (TF) in the transcriptional regulation of ethylene biosynthesis genes during fruit ripening remains largely unclear. In this study, 15 ERF genes, designated as MaERF1-MaERF15, were isolated and characterized from banana fruit. These MaERFs were classified into seven of the 12 known ERF families. Subcellular localization show...

Physical and chemical changes in sapote mamey (Pouteria sapota (Jacq.) H.E. Moore and Stearn) fruit during ripening and storage at various temperatures were evaluated. Ripening was associated with flesh softening, an increase in soluble solids content (SSC), and a change in flesh color from yellow or pale pink to a dark pink or red. No changes in fruit skin color or in flesh acidity were observ...

conclusions the results showed that acupressure is a safe technique and leads to cervical ripening. thus, regarding the desired results that were achieved when mothers applied acupressure themselves, it could be suggested that it is beneficial for mothers to be trained to apply this method at home. results there was a significant difference between mothers’ educations in the three groups. most ...

We report ripening of metal particles anchored on pyramid-shaped heterostructure nanocrystals. The 'intra-particle' ripening results in a large metal tip at one corner with the other three tips vanishing. Investigation reveals that the ripening and core/shell formation affects photocatalytic activities via the Fermi level change.

Background: The objectives of the study were to Evaluation of isosorbide mononitrate for cervical ripening prior to induction of labor at term pregnancy in an outpatient. Methods: A randomized, placebo controlled prospective study was conducted with 120 women with term pregnancies and unfavorable cervices who self-administered vaginally either 2, 40-mg tablets of IMN or pyridoxine as placebo pr...

The exact mechanisms that regulate cervical softening or ripening during pregnancy are not completely understood. The aim of this study was to estimate the effects of various agents on cervical softening during pregnancy in rats. Cervical resistance was examined after treatment with nitric oxide (NO) donors and inhibitors and different hormonal agents. Cervical resistance was significantly redu...

Chilling-sensitive fruit often produce a burst of ethylene when reconditioned at ambient temperature after cold storage. This has led some authors to propose that chilling injury (CI) may be induced by post-chilling ethylene production. To test this hypothesis we examined two tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) mutants, non-ripening (nor) and ripening-inhibitor (rin) that do not produce climacteri...

mRNA was extracted from the pulp and peel of preclimacteric (d 0) bananas (Musa AAA group, cv Grand Nain) and those exposed to ethylene gas for 24 h and stored in air alone for a further 1 (d 2) and 4 d (d 5). Two-dimensional sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of in vitro translation products from the pulp and peel of these fruits revealed significant up-regulation of num...
