Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) therapy has experienced important changes in survival benefit and durable anti-tumor responses due to immune checkpoint blockers (ICBs). However, ICBs show some major limitations including low response rate drug resistance unselected patients. Despite the development of new predictive biomarkers, such as PD-L1 expression, microsatellite instability (MSI), or t...
fluorescence chemical sensors for the highly sensitive and selective determination of pb2+ , hg2+, co2+ and fe3+ ions in aqueous solutions are described. the ion sensing system was prepared by incorporating lipophilic ligand (l) as a neutral ion-selective fluoroionophore in the plasticized pvc membrane containing sodium tetraphenylborate or potasium tetrakis (p-chlorophenyl) borate as a liphoph...
Depression is one of the major global health challenges and a leading contributor of health related disability and costs. Depression is a heterogeneous disorder and current methods for assessing its severity in clinical practice rely on symptom count, however this approach is unreliable and inconsistent. The clinical evaluation of depressive symptoms is particularly challenging in primary care,...
Digital pathology offers powerful tools for biomarker discovery, analysis, and translation. Despite its advantages, the clinical adoption of digital has been slow. A methodological validation is required novel pathological biomarkers. Four steps are to validate a use: sample collection processing, analytical validation, utility. The biomarkers their diagnostic, monitoring, pharmacodynamic respo...
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that function as post-transcriptional gene expression regulators. The expression profiling of miRNAs has already entered into cancer clinics as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers to assess tumor initiation, progression and response to treatment in cancer patients. Recent Studies opened the way for the use of circulating miRNAs as non-invasive diagn...
breast cancer is the most important and prevalent cancer in women that can be managed if detected in the early stages. recently, there has been much focus on the use of epigenetic changes such as dna methylation in early detection of cancer. as recent research has put forth dok7 cpg island methylation as an epimarker, in the present study, using a quantification method, a cohort of iranian spor...
multiple sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system characterized by a complex immune response. because of the complex nature of ms pathogenesis, a panel of biomarkers derived from different platforms will be required to reflect disease-related alterations. monitoring and evaluation of molecules associated with the pathogenesis of the disease would provide useful ...
Endometrial cancers (ECs) with POLE proofreading mutations are typified by ultramutation and excellent prognosis. We investigated whether these were related, and found that POLE-mutant ECs display a robust T cell response that corresponds to an enrichment of antigenic tumor neopeptides. Enhanced immunogenicity may explain the favorable outcome of POLE-mutant ECs.
In ref. (1), ‘‘A validated mathematical model of cell-mediated immune response to tumor growth’’, de Pillis et al. present a mathematical model describing the interactions between the immune cells, CD8 T-lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells. Differential equations are used to describe tumor-immune growth, response, and interaction rates. The parameters reflect general biological quantities...
