In TREC 2016, we focus on tackling the challenges posed by the Dynamic Domain (DD) track. The goal of the TREC DD track is to support research in dynamic, exploratory search within a complex domain. To this end, our participation investigates the suitability of multiple diversification approaches for dynamic information retrieval. In particular, based on fine-grained real-time feedback obtained...

In this report, we present research toward a vision-based landing system for unmanned rotorcraft in unknown terrain that is centered around our Recursive Multi-Frame Planar Parallax algorithm [1] for high-accuracy terrain mapping. We give an in-depth description of the vision system, an overview of our experimental platforms, and both synthetic and experimental terrain mapping results.

BACKGROUND The estimation of lesion size is an integral part of treatment planning for the clinical applications of radiofrequency ablation. However, to date, studies have not directly evaluated the impact of different computational estimation techniques for predicting lesion size. In this study, we focus on three common methods used for predicting tissue injury: (1) iso-temperature contours, (...

The number of possible methods of generalizing binary classification to multi-class classification increases exponentially with the number of class labels. Often, the best method of doing so will be highly problem dependent. Here we present classification software in which the partitioning of multiclass classification problems into binary classification problems is specified using a recursive c...

We develop the methodology of multi-adaptive time-stepping for stiff problems. The new algorithm is based on adaptively stabilized fixed point iteration on time slabs and a new method for the recursive construction of time slabs. Numerical examples are given for a series of well-known stiff and non-stiff test problems.

This paper discusses a perception-based theory for a multi-variate stopping problem with a monotone rule by Yasuda et al. (1982). The problem is developed by using the perceptive analysis of the previous work(Kurano et al. (2004)). We will show a recursive equation which determines the perceptive value of its equilibrium point for the model.

This paper describes a tool for intersecting context-free grammars. Since this problem is undecidable the tool follows a refinementbased approach and implements a novel refinement which is complete for regularly separable grammars. We show its effectiveness for safety verification of recursive multi-threaded programs.

A fast and efficient multi-dimensional adaptive sampling method (ASM) based on Stoer-Bulirsch (S-B) algorithm for frequency selective surface (FSS) analysis and design is presented in this paper. The multivariate rational function is established according to the functional relation of the scattering parameters with frequency and direction of incident wave, medium parameters and geometry dimensi...

We study a class of utility functions that are defined recursively by an aggregator W (x, y) where ut =W (ct, ut+1). In single-agent economies it is known that a sufficient condition for the existence of a balanced growth path is that utility should be homogenous of degree γ. In the context of a multi-agent economy we show that this restriction implies that either a balanced growth equilibrium ...
