Plant anthocyanin is a secondary metabolite widely distributed in the roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits of plants, its synthesis significantly affected by light intensity. To reveal physiological response mechanism blueberry leaves at different intensities, four intensities (100% (CK), 75%, 50% 25%) were set for ‘O’Neal’ southern highbush as experimental material our study. The relations...
By measuring the changes in phytohormones and related enzyme activities of Malus ‘Huabiao’ scions different rootstocks during healing process grafting, this study aims to analyze effects on physiological metabolism grafting site, thereby providing reference for selection M. rootstocks. The live seedlings 1-0 hupehensis, robusta baccata were chosen as rootstocks, grafted with these spring by pas...
Wounding lettuce (Lactuca sativa L., var. Longifolia) leaves induced an eight-fold increase in the activity of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL; EC 4.3.1.5), and the subsequent accumulation of phenolic compounds and tissue browning at 10 C. PAL is a key enzyme in the synthesis of phenolic compounds. A PAL cDNA was previously isolated by reverse-transcription PCR using total RNA from wounded let...
Ultraviolet B (UV-B) irradiation has been demonstrated to play a synergistic effect with wounding in enhancing the accumulation of phenolic antioxidants carrots. However, little is known about molecular mechanisms UV-B treatment on wounded In this study, carrots were exposed different doses light, then stored at 15 °C for 2 d. The results showed that content compounds 1 KJ m?2 UV-B–treated samp...
The present report shows that the effect of red and far red light on the synthesis of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase can be ascribed to the action of phytochrome Pfr. This is true not only for short term irradiation but also for the action of continuous far red light. In the latter case, the model worked out by Hartmann implicating some excited species of phytochrome has to be taken into account.
Trichosporon cutaneum phenylalanine ammonia lyase was selected as a model to investigate the dual substrate activity of this family of enzymes. Sequencing of the PAL gene identified an extensive intron region at the N-terminus. Five amino acid residues differing from a prior report were identified. Highest Phe : Tyr activities (1.6 ± 0.3 : 0.4 ± 0.1 μ mol/h g wet weight) were induced by Tyr. ...
Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (RgPAL) from Rhodotorula glutinis JN-1 stereoselectively catalyzes the conversion of the l-phenylalanine into trans-cinnamic acid and ammonia, and was used in chiral resolution of dl-phenylalanine to produce the d-phenylalanine under acidic condition. However, the optimum pH of RgPAL is 9 and the RgPAL exhibits low catalytic efficiency at acidic side. Therefore, a mu...
