Human erythrocyte membrane glycoproteins were solubilized and recovered in the aqueous phase after extraction of red cell ghosts with a mixture of chloroform and methanol. The major glycoprotein, the so-called MN glycoprotein, was prepared from this phase by gel filtration on Sepharose 4B columns in 6 M guanidine hydrochloride. By SDS-acrylamide gel electrophoresis the MN glycoproteins from the...
The enzymatic conversion of xanthoxin to abscisic acid by cell-free extracts of Phaseolus vulgaris L. leaves has been found to be a two-step reaction catalyzed by two different enzymes. Xanthoxin was first converted to abscisic aldehyde followed by conversion of the latter to abscisic acid. The enzyme activity catalyzing the synthesis of abscisic aldehyde from xanthoxin (xanthoxin oxidase) was ...

We characterized indigenous common bean rhizobia from five districts of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The isolates were trapped by two common bean varieties, the Mineiro Precoce (Andean origin) and Ouro Negro (Mesoamerican origin). Analysis by BOX-PCR of selected isolates detected a high level of genetic diversity.
ABSTRACT: The semiarid region of Brazil is characterized by the high susceptibility its agricultural systems to climatic fluctuations, which maximized productive methods employed. In this region, bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) one main crops produced, serving as an important food source for local families. sense, study aimed analyze dynamics production in municipality Gado Bravo, Semi-arid Paraib...
In a greenhouse trials, the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizae fungi (AMF) on growth and uptake of N, P, K and Pb by Eucalyptus rostrata L., grown with or without Phaseolus vulgaris, in lead (Pb) contaminated soil were investigated. Inoculation of the host plants with AMF, Glomus deserticola spores, significantly increased the dry weight, shoot length, total N, P and K as well as chlorophyll con...
The soybean aphid, Aphis glycines Matsumura, is a new pest of soybean, Glycine max (L.) Merr., in North America. It has become widespread on soybean in North America since it was first identified in the Midwest in 2000. Species of Rhamnus L. (buckthorn) are the primary hosts of A. glycines, and soybean is known as a secondary host. There is limited information about the secondary host range of ...
