Paecilomyces lilacinus is a ubiquitous saprophytic fungus that rarely causes infections in humans, frequently affecting the eyes and the skin. Cutaneous and subcutaneous infections mainly occur in immunocompromised hosts but have occasionally been reported in immunocompetent patients. The clinical spectrum is highly heterogeneous and diagnosis is often delayed. A 60-year-old woman with idiopath...
Endophytic fungal isolates (139 no.) were obtained from 143 (62 roots, 18 fruits and 54 leaves) samples of 15 different varieties banana collected 10 sites in Assam, India during 2018-2019. Overall isolation frequency surface-sterilized tissue ranged 10%-80% (as per site) 6%-70% variety banana). All segregated into 40 types on the basis macromorphological micro morphological characteristics. Fo...
Aspergillus parasiticus RCMB 002001 (2) producing four types of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, and G2 was used in this study as an aflatoxin-producer. Penicillium griseofulvum, P. urticae, Paecilomyces lilacinus, Trichoderma viride, Candida utilis, Saccharomyces cerevisiae as well as a non-toxigenic strain of Aspergillus flavus were found to be able to exhibit growth on aflatoxin B1-containing medium u...
among fungi, species of the genus paecilomyces are considered as promising biological control agents with high potential to reduce root-knot nematode (rkn) and other nematode populations. in this research we investigated a soil hyphomycetes, paecilomyces marquandii and its pathogenicity on eggs of rkn in vitro. in greenhouse test, root weight, plant length, fresh weight and dry weight of plants...
Maillard reaction inhibitors could be useful therapeutics for diabetes and other age-related diseases. We isolated for the first time 4-O-demethylsilvaticol (1) and (-)-mitorubrin (2) as Maillard reaction inhibitors from Paecilomyces sp. 3193B. Among the isolated inhibitors, 2 showed most potent inhibitory effect by an SDS-PAGE assay on cross-linked protein formation and by a fluorescent assay ...
Early diagnosis offungal keratitis is difficult, and it has been generally associated with poor visual prognosis. We treated a man who had keratomycosis with corneal perforation and lens prolapse caused by Paecilomyces sp, which rarely causes ocular infection. The patient was given antifungal agents, a temporary conjunctival flap, and penetrating keratoplasty. His visual outcome was successful.
A polysaccharide separated from Paecilomyces sp. was determined by gel permeation chromatography to be homogeneous. HPLC showed a monosaccharide containing D-glucose and D-fructose at a ratio of about 2:1. The results obtained from IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR analyses confirmed the proposed structure.
Tests of the survival of Candida spp., Aspergillus spp., a Fusarium sp., a Mucor sp., and a Paecilomyces sp. on hospital fabrics and plastics indicated that viability was variable, with most fungi surviving at least 1 day but many living for weeks. These findings reinforce the need for appropriate disinfection and conscientious contact control precautions.
