BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Genital warts, due to specific types of the human papillomavirus, have long been regarded as one of the most important causes of cervical cancer and one of the most common cause of Sexually Transmited Diseases (STDs). Over the years, it has been the focus of several studies in order to find the best effective approach to eradicate the virus, however there are still cont...

After lightning, precipitation formed, these lightning phenomena occur in the atmosphere by high power laser pulse. After striking the laser pulse, condensation and water drop formation take place in the atmosphere. It is well known that, for water drop formation, condensation must occurred (condensation is the basic need for water drops formation).Condensation means, heat energy subtraction. H...

The combination of laser-heated diamond anvil cells and synchrotron Mössbauer source spectroscopy were used to investigate high-temperature high-pressure chemical reactions of iron and iron nitride Fe2 N with nitrogen. At pressures between 10 and 45 GPa, significant magnetic hyperfine splitting indicated compound formation after annealing at 1300 K. Subsequent in situ X-ray diffraction reveals ...

This paper describes ongoing research in the Neptune Laboratory at UCLA on ion acceleration from plasmas formed in different gases using a 4-10TW CO2 laser. Our experiment is focused on acceleration of Helium and Nitrogen ions using collisionless shocks. The status of the experiment is presented. One dimensional particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations are carried out to study conditions under which ...

Cavity ringdown spectra of ammonia at 10 parts in 10(9) by volume (ppbv) and higher concentrations were recorded by use of a 16-mW continuous-wave quantum-casacde distributed-feedback laser at 8.5 mum whose wavelength was continuously temperature tuned over 15 nm. A sensitivity (noise-equivalent absorbance) of 3.4x10(-9) cm(-1) Hz(-1/2) was achieved for ammonia in nitrogen at standard temperatu...

Measurements are reported of the yield and spectrum of fluorescence, excited by a 28.5 GeV electron beam, in air at a range of pressures of interest to ultra-high energy cosmic ray detectors. The wavelength range was 300 420 nm. System calibration has been performed using Rayleigh scattering of a nitrogen laser beam. In atmospheric pressure dry air at 304 K the yield is 20.8 ± 1.6 photons per MeV.

Rayleigh-Brillouin spectra for heated nitrogen gas were measured by imaging the output of a Fabry-Perot interferometer onto a CCD array. The spectra were compared with the theoretical 6-moment model of Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering convolved with the Fabry-Perot instrument function. Estimates of the temperature and a dimensionless parameter proportional to the number density of the gas as funct...

Supercontinuum pulses covering the range from 1100 to 1700 nm with energies >1.0  mJ and excellent beam quality are generated via nonlinear spectral broadening of Cr:forsterite (1240 nm, 110 fs) pulses in pressurized molecular nitrogen. Our spectra, which extend over more than half an octave, offer an attractive alternative to intense few-cycle pulse synthesis in the 1-2 μm range and lend thems...

Anogenital warts are an infectious disorder of the anogenital lesion caused by one or more human papilloma viruses. Verruca is commonly treated with freezing with liquid nitrogen, laser therapy or application of imiquimod. Such ablative treatment may cause pain and scars on the anogenital lesion. We herein report an infant case of anogenital wart which was successfully treated with a topical vi...

Nitrogen atoms have been detected in stoichiometric flat premixed H2/O2/N2 flames at 33 and 96 mbar doped with small amounts of NH3, HCN, and (CN)2 using two-photon laser excitation at 211 nm and fluorescence detection around 870nm. The shape of the fluorescence intensity profiles versus height above the burner surface is markedly different for the different additives. Using measured quenching ...
