We discuss the phenomenology of damping signatures in the neutrino oscillation probabilities, where either the oscillating terms or the probabilities can be damped. This approach is a possibility for tests of non-oscillation effects in future neutrino oscillation experiments, where we mainly focus on reactor and long-baseline experiments. We extensively motivate different damping signatures due...
The present status of the problem of neutrino mass, mixing and neutrino oscillations is briefly summarized. The evidence for oscillations of atmospheric neutrinos found recently in the Super-Kamiokande experiment is discussed. Indications in favor of neutrino oscillations obtained in solar neutrino experiments and in the accelerator LSND experiment are also considered. Implications of existing ...
Prompted by recent solar and atmospheric data, we re-analyze the four-neutrino description of current global neutrino oscillation data, including the LSND evidence for oscillations. The higher degree of rejection for non-active solar and atmospheric oscillation solutions implied by the SNO neutral current result as well as by the latest 1489-day Super-K atmospheric neutrino data allows us to ru...
The measurements of the parameters of the neutrino mixing matrix in the present and future neutrino oscillation experiments at accelerators are presented. The perspectives for high intensity new neutrino facilities as SuperBeams, BetaBeams and Neutrino Factories devoted to precise measurements subleading numu to nue oscillation parameters at the atmospheric scale are discussed. Emphasis is on t...
We investigate the impact of the 766.3 Ty KamLAND spectrum data on the determination of the solar neutrino oscillation parameters. We show that the observed spectrum distortion in the KamLAND experiment firmly establishes ∆m21 to lie in the low-LMA solution region. The high-LMA solution is excluded at more than 4σ by the global solar neutrino and KamLAND spectrum data. The maximal solar neutrin...
Recent Super-Kamiokande data on the atmospheric neutrino anomaly are used to test various mechanisms for neutrino oscillations. It is found that the current atmospheric neutrino data alone cannot rule out any particular mechanism. Future long-baseline experiments should play an important role in identifying the underlying neutrino oscillation mechanism.
Theoretical prejudices, cosmology, and neutrino oscillation experiments all suggest neutrino masses are far below present direct experimental limits. Four interesting scenarios and their implications are discussed: (I) a 17 keV v,, (2) a 30 eVv, making up the dark matter, (3) a 10e3 eVu,, 10 solve the solar neutrino problem, and (4) a three-neutrino M S W solution. @ L. We identify three independent two-fold parameter degeneracies (δ , θ13), sgn(δm31) and (θ23 , π/2 − θ23) inherent in the usual three–neutrino analysis of long–baseline neutrino experiments, which can lead to as much as an eight–fold degeneracy in the determination of the oscillation parameters. We discuss the implications these degeneracies have for detecting CP violation and present criteria f...
We present a global analysis of all the available solar neutrino data treating consistently the B and hep neutrino fluxes as free parameters. The analysis reveals at 99.7% C.L. eight currently-allowed discrete regions in two-neutrino oscillation space, five regions corresponding to active neutrinos and three corresponding to sterile neutrinos. Most of the allowed oscillation solutions are robus...
