OBJECTIVE Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHCC) is the second most common primary cancer of the liver Tumor angiogenesis seem to play an important role in tumor growth and prognosis of cancer patients. The purpose of the present study was to determine the prognostic value of tumor microvessel density (MVD) in patients with IHCC. MATERIAL AND METHOD Clinicopathological prognostic factors, rec...

Background: Because of the angiogenic process of malignant tumours, there was significant difference between lung cancer blood supply and benign lesion. The Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is associated with the progression and poor prognosis of lung cancer. The aim of the study was to assess the correlation between the expression of COX-2, VEGF and Micro ...

Background Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a common microvascular compression syndrome of cranial nerves. Medical treatment is regarded as the first line treatment; however, a group of patients do not respond to medical treatment satisfactorily and develop persistent and refractory symptom(s). Surgical microvascular decompression (MVD) is usually then advised. We reviewed the surgical MVD outcome ...

A 66-year-old man presented with typical trigeminal neuralgia (TN). Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) revealed a primitive trigeminal artery (PTA) that came into contact with the trigeminal nerve. Based on MRA, we performed microvascular decompression (MVD). In the operational field, we confirmed the PTA location and performed MVD successfully. Postoperatively, the patient's pain subsided wi...

OBJECTIVES This study sought to examine the ultrastructure of microvessels in normal and atherosclerotic coronary arteries and its association with plaque phenotype. BACKGROUND Microvessels in atherosclerotic plaques are an entry point for inflammatory and red blood cells; yet, there are limited data on the ultrastructural integrity of microvessels in human atherosclerosis. METHODS Microves...

The sensitivity of detection of antigenuria in patients positive by the MiraVista Diagnostics Histoplasma enzyme immunoassay (MVD EIA) was 44% with the IMMY ALPHA Histoplasma antigen EIA. The specificity was 84% with the IMMY EIA versus 98% with the MVD EIA. The correlation between assays for positive cases was weak (r(2) = 0.430).

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is advantageous for long-term clinical outcomes compared to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in hemodialysis (HD) patients, as PCI has a lower short-term mortality but higher late revascularization risk. Therefore, CABG very important HD patients current practice. In the presence of an arteriovenous fistula may flow capacity ipsilateral internal th...

BACKGROUND Macrovascular diseases (MVD) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are often considered all together, without discriminating the areas involved. The aim of our study was to analyse MVD prevalence in a large population of T2DM patients by dividing the cases into subgroups according to MVD sites (NMVD, no MVD; NSCS, non-significant carotid stenosis; CBVD, cerebrovascular disease; CAD, cor...

BACKGROUND Hemifacial spasm (HFS) is a movement disorder characterized by intermittent, involuntary clonic or tonic-clonic contractions of muscles innervated by the ipsilateral facial nerve. Recent studies have documented change in quality of life after HFS management with botulinum toxin injection. However, we failed to locate any study that documented change in quality of life after surgical ...
