We present a fluorescence-based, multiplex in situ hybridization method that permits the simultaneous detection of five differently labeled antisense RNA probes and up to seven differ-ent transcripts in a single Drosophila embryo. We also show that it should be possible to increase the number of detected transcripts substantially with nascent transcript multiplex fluorescent in situ hybridizati...

A multiplex method using the SNaPshot technique was developed to screen for six common mycobacterial species: Mycobacteria tuberculosis, M. avium, M. intracellulare, M. chelonae, M. kansasii, and M. gordonae. A total of 468 mycobacterial clinical isolates were subjected to analysis for the presence of the six mycobacterial species by the multiplex SNaPshot method. Of the 468 mycobacterial isola...

The Mixed Stain Study 3 (MSS3) interlaboratory challenge exercise evaluated the 2001 performance of STR multiplex DNA typing systems using a set of seven DNA extracts of designed concentration and composition. This initial report focuses on the linkages connecting the measurement of the concentration of DNA ([DNA]) to the observed STR multiplex signal intensities. There is a causal relationship...

We study the time scales associated with diffusion processes that take place on multiplex networks, i.e., on a set of networks linked through interconnected layers. To this end, we propose the construction of a supra-laplacian matrix, which consists of a dimensional lifting of the laplacian matrix of each layer of the multiplex network. We use perturbative analysis to reveal analytically the st...

Multiplex PCR amplification systems were developed using well-characterized, polymorphic short tandem repeat (STR) loci. Eight loci utilized in the multiplex amplifications included HUMCSF1PO, HUMTPOX, HUMTH01, HUMVWFA31, HUMF13A01, HUMFESFPS, HUMBFXIII and HUMLIPOL. From this list, three or four non-overlapping loci were simultaneously amplified, separated by denaturing polyacrylamide gel elec...

conclusions multiplex sybr green real-time pcr is a rapid and relatively inexpensive method for detection of respiratory viruses. results application of the multiplex sybr green real-time pcr in clinical samples from 172 patients in a one-year study resulted in detection of 19 (11.04%) piv3, 9 (5.23%) piv4, and 1 (0.58%) coronavirus nl63. all the positive samples were detected during december t...

We consider synchronization of more than one pair of chaos systems connected by a single line. First, a master-slave system is introduced and a variety of synchronization phenomena (e.g., synchronization of multiple chaos and of multiple periodic orbits) are discussed theoretically and experimentally. Based on these phenomena, a multiplex communication scheme is discussed.

xMAP technology is applicable for high-throughput, multiplex and simultaneous detection of different analytes within a single complex sample. xMAP multiplex assays are currently available in various nucleic acid and immunoassay formats, enabling simultaneous detection and typing of pathogenic viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi and also antigen or antibody interception. As an open architectu...
