Molybdate sulfuric acid (MSA) has been prepared and used as catalyst for the Biginelli synthesis of some quinazolinones/thiones under solvent-free conditions. The catalyst loading is low and it shows recyclability. This method has advantages such as avoidance of the organic solvents, high yield of pure products, short reaction times and operational simplicity.

Molybdate ionic liquids active for CO 2 fixation into terminal and internal epoxides without any added halide co-catalysts are described. 95 Mo-NMR spectra demonstrate the interaction activation of with MoO 4 species.

In this paper, a new and facile approach for molybdate loading in the brown algae of Sargassum angustifolium is introduced. The molybdate ions were entered into the algae body during a short cultivation to produce algae-Mo as a novel adsorbent for eliminating phosphate ions from synthetic and real wastewaters. Results of the surface analysis showed that molybdate loading onto the algae was succ...

The hyperthermophilic archaeon Pyrococcus furiosus expresses five aldehyde oxidoreductase (AOR) enzymes, all containing a tungsto-bispterin cofactor. The growth of this organism is fully dependent on the presence of tungsten in the growth medium. Previous studies have suggested that molybdenum is not incorporated in the active site of these enzymes. Application of the radioisotope (99)Mo in met...

A method has been developed to measure aldosterone receptors using rat kidney cytosol preparations. Addition of 0.1 M Na molybdate to homogenization buffer markedly diminished receptor inactivation, allowing for more accurate assessment of affinity and total number of receptors. Statistical analysis of Scatchard plots was used to resolve curvilinear plots into high affinity (type I) and a low a...

Molybdate, tungstate, fluoride, vanadate, and GTP-gamma-S [guanosine-5'-0-(3-thiotriphosphate)] were injected into Limulus ventral photoreceptors by ionophoresis from microelectrodes. All of these drugs induce discrete waves of depolarization similar in waveform to, but smaller in amplitude than, those normally elicited by dim light. As for light-evoked waves, the amplitude of drug-induced wave...

This study aimed to elucidate the structural nature of the polydisperse, nanoscopic components in the solution and the solid states of partially reduced polyoxomolybdate derived from the [Mo132] keplerate, [(Mo)Mo5]12-[Mo2 acetate]30. Designer tripodal hexamine-tris-crown ethers and nanoscopic molybdate coprecipitated from aqueous solution. These microcrystalline solids distributed particle rad...

Molybdenum cofactor activity was found in the soluble fraction of cell-free extracts of Escherichia coli grown aerobically in media supplemented with molybdate. Cofactor was detected by its ability to complement the nitrate reductase-deficient mutant of Neurospora crossa, nit-1, resulting in the vitro formation of nitrate reductase activity. Acid treatment of E. coli extracts was not required f...

Frequent observations have been made of the increased rate of hydrolysis of relatively labile phosphate compounds in acid molybdate solution (e.g. phosphocreatine (I), acetyl phosphate (2), and 1,3-diphosphoglyceric acid (3)). A study by Weil-Malherbc and Green (4) indicated that ATP, pyrophosphate, phosphoenolpyruvate, and fructosr B-phosphate were hydrolyzed appreciably in the pH range 3 to 5...
