Genome-wide DNA hypomethylation and gene hypermethylation play important roles in instability and carcino-genesis. Methylation in long interspersed nucleotide element 1 (LINE-1) is a good indicator of the global DNA methylation level within a cell. Slit homolog 2 (SLIT2), myelin and lymphocyte protein gene (MAL) and insulin-like growth factor bind...

Mal de Meleda is a rare form of palmoplantar keratoderma, and recently mutations in the ARS (component) B gene have been identified in families with this disease. We identified a recurrent nonsense mutation, R96X, in four families of Turkish descent. In this report, we demonstrate that these families share a common ancestral haplotype at the mal de Meleda locus, suggesting a founder effect.

Glycaemic responses to the dextrin NUTRIOSE 6 (Dex) and the MALTISORB maltitol (Mal) have been studied previously but their effects on vigilance and cognitive performances are still not known. The present study assesses dose-related glycaemic responses following Dex administration and the hypothesis that Dex and Mal could modulate the glycaemic response, improve vigilance under stress condition...

Background: Therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals are designed to deliver high doses of radiation to selected target organs with an aim of minimizing unwanted radiation to surrounding healthy tissue. Due to the potential of targeted radiotherapy to treat a wide range of malignant conditions, [153Sm]-samarium maltolate was developed for possible therapeutic applications. Materials and Methods: The or...
