Selective renal angiogrgphy in 7 patients with normal kidneys, taken in fourfold magnification, using a special X-ray tube with a very fine focal spot less than 0.05 mm in diameter, revealed numerous small linear shadows of interlobular arteries accompanied with small granular punctiform shadows of glomeruli in the cortex, as well as in the medulla. In order to obtain the glomerular phase of op...

Figure 2. High-power micrograph (original magnification, 600) of the appendix specimen shows mucosal cells with characteristic cytomegalovirus inclusions (arrow); note the “owl-eye” intranuclear inclusions and granular cytoplasmic inclusions. Figure 1. Low-power micrograph (original magnification, 40) of a longitudinal section of the appendix demonstrates mucosa ulcerated with a lymphohistiocyt...

Abstract Measurements of galaxy clustering in upcoming surveys such as those planned for the Euclid and Roman satellites, SKA Observatory, will be sensitive to distortions from lensing magnification Doppler effects, beyond standard redshift-space distortions. The amplitude these contributions depends sensitively on bias evolution number density. Magnification quantifies change observed galaxies...

Four of nine exoplanets found by microlensing were detected by the resonant caustic, which represents the merging of the planetary and central caustics at the position when the projected separation of a host star and a bounded planet is s ∼ 1. One of the resonant caustic lensing events, OGLE-2005-BLG-169, was a caustic-crossing highmagnification event with Amax ∼ 800 and the source star was muc...

The phase computation is used in many applications of signal and image processing such as edge, line, symmetry detection, image analysis and recently to show small motion or color changes. Eulerian video processing allows to show small color changes and motions invisibles to the naked eye. Eulerian motion magnification, was modify using the phase and the Riesz pyramid in order to reduce the noi...

Leaf vein length per unit leaf area (VLA; also known as vein density) is an important determinant of water and sugar transport, photosynthetic function, and biomechanical support. A range of software methods are in use to visualize and measure vein systems in cleared leaf images; typically, users locate veins by digital tracing, but recent articles introduced software by which users can locate ...

We present a new calibration model of both static distortion and projection for a scanning-electron microscope (SEM). The proposed calibration model depends continuously on the magnification factor. State-of-the-art methods have proposed models to solve the static distortion and projection model but for a discrete set of low and high magnifications: at low magnifications, existing models assume...

IMPORTANCE Recent studies have reported "comma hairs" as a typical dermoscopic feature of tinea capitis observed at low magnification (×10). The aim of this study was to evaluate the dermoscopic aspects of tinea capitis at high magnification (×150) and its diagnostic role. OBSERVATIONS Five children (2 boys and 3 girls; aged 4-10 years) with multiple scaly patches of alopecia underwent scalp ...

Magnification is an effective aid for people with conditions causing resolution loss, but it inherently restricts the field of view. Therefore, magnification must be centered on the most important point of the scene. We determine this " point of regard " (POR) by recording eye movements of normal subjects while they watch video.

A simple geometrical method is described of calculating the retinal magnification factor (micrometres/degree) at the ora serrata of the human eye. At the ora the magnification factor is some 176 microns/deg., whereas at the posterior pole it is 276 microns/deg. This result may be of clinical use in examinations where dimensions of tears and holes near the ora serrata are estimated.
