The convergence in various topologies of sequences of inner superposition (composition) operators acting between Lebesgue spaces and of their linear combinations is studied. In particular, the sequential density results for the linear span of such operators is proved for the weak, weak continuous and strong operator topologies.

Linear superposition principles of hyperbolic and trigonometric function solutions are analyzed for Hirota bilinear equations, with an aim to construct a specific sub-class of N-soliton solutions formulated by linear combinations of hyperbolic and trigonometric functions. An algorithm using weights is discussed and a few illustrative application examples are presented. 2013 Elsevier Inc. All ri...

We present a numerical method to compute path integrals in effective SU(2) Yang-Mills theories. The basic idea is to approximate the Yang-Mills path integral by summing over all gauge field configurations, which can be represented as a linear superposition of a small number of localized building blocks. With a suitable choice of building blocks many essential features of SU(2) YangMills theory ...

We extend the results obtained for different cases of the product superposition of periodic functions, and the determination of the scattered fields, for the case of circular symmetry. The characteristics of focalization for such cases are studied. We name Cantor-Fresnel zone plate the structures obtained with this method. Also, in this study can be included the focalization by periodic, Cantor...

We use the numerically exact superposition T-matrix method to compute the optical cross sections and the Stokes scattering matrix for polydisperse mineral aerosols (modeled as homogeneous spheres) covered with a large number of much smaller soot particles. These results are compared with the Lorenz-Mie results for a uniform external mixture of mineral and soot aerosols. We show that the effect ...

We consider the class of integer rectifiable currents without boundary in Rn × R satisfying a positivity condition. We establish that these currents can be written as a linear superposition of graphs of finitely many functions with bounded variation.

This paper presents a method for modelling and estimating 2D or 3D branching structures, such as blood vessel bifurcations from medical images. Branches are modelled as a superposition of Gaussian functions in a local region which describe the amplitude, position and orientations of intersecting linear features. The centroids of component features are separated by applying K-means to the local ...

The quantum world is certainly different from the classical world where one can have linear superposition of all possibilities with appropriate probabilities. We ask if a real quantum cloning machine exists then it should exploit this basic feature of the quantum world and it should produce simultaneously 1 to 2, 1 to 3, and 1 to M copies. Is it really possible by some physical process to produ...

The SUGAR Truss-Braced Wing (TBW) aircraft concept is a Boeing-developed N+3 aircraft configuration funded by NASA ARMD Fixed Wing Project. This future generation transport aircraft concept is designed to be aerodynamically efficient by employing a high aspect ratio wing design. The aspect ratio of the TBW is on the order of 14 which is significantly greater than those of current generation tra...
