We consider the stochastic Swift-Hohenberg equation on a large domain near its change of stability. We show that, under the appropriate scaling, its solutions can be approximated by a periodic wave, which is modulated by the solutions to a stochastic Ginzburg-Landau equation. We then proceed to show that this approximation also extends to the invariant measures of these equations.

The Landau-Lifshitz equation is an example of soliton equations with a zerocurvature representation defined on an elliptic curve. This equation can be embedded into an integrable hierarchy of evolution equations called the Landau-Lifshitz hierarchy. This paper elucidates its status in Sato, Segal and Wilson’s universal description of soliton equations in the language of an infinite dimensional ...

The motion of an electron in a constant magnetic field is an interesting physical problem. Essentially this is a two-dimensional problem. Landau [l] solved the Schrodinger equation in a particular gauge, the now well-known Landau gauge. His famous solution is a plane wave in one direction and a harmonic oscillator wavefunction in the other direction. Fifty odd years later Laughlin [2] solved th...

We present an approximate analytical solution of the Cahn-Hilliard equation describing the coalescence during a first order phase transition. We have identified all the intermediate profiles, stationary solutions of the noiseless Cahn-Hilliard equation. Using properties of the soliton lattices, periodic solutions of the Ginzburg-Landau equation, we have construct a family of ansatz describing c...

The aim of this article is twofold: (1). develop a strategy to prove the existence of chaos in weakly quasilinear systems, (2). strengthen the existing results on chaos in partial differential equations. First, we study a sineGordon equation containing weakly quasilinear terms, and existence of chaos is proved. Then, we study a Ginzburg-Landau equation containing weakly quasilinear terms, and e...

We address the problem of control of the magnetic moment in a ferromagnetic nanowire by means of a magnetic field. Based on theoretical results for the 1D Landau-Lifschitz equation, we show a robust controllability result. 1. Model and control result The magnetic moment u of a ferromagnetic material is usually modeled as a unitary vector field, solution of the Landau-Lifschitz equation (1) ∂u ∂...

In this article, non-linear Landau damping and generation of BGK mode in non-magnetized plasma are studied by using particle simulation. As plasma environment consists of electrons and ions, it is simulated by particle method and it is supposed that ions are considered as a motionless background. On the other hand, electron’s dynamic is obtained from solving Newton’s equation and the electron...

By applying the fluctuation dissipation theorem [1] to the Navier Stokes equation, Landau and Lifshitz developed long ago the standard theory of fluctuating hydrodynamics [2] [3] [4]. This theory is both appealing and successful, and it is consistent with the fluctuating hydrodynamics which is derived if fluctuation dissipation theory is first applied to the Boltzmann equation [5], and then the...

We show by direct calculation starting from a microscopic model that the two-state system with timedependent energy levels in the presence of fast quantum noise obeys the master equation. The solution of master equation is found analytically and analyzed in a broad range of parameters. The fast transverse noise affects the transition probability during much longer time the accumulation time tha...

In the Ginzburg-Landau model for superconductivity a large Ginzburg-Landau parameter κ corresponds to the formation of tight, stable vortices. These vortices are located where an applied magnetic field pierces the superconducting bulk, and each vortex induces a quantized supercurrent about the vortex. The energy of large-κ solutions blows up near each vortex which brings about difficulties in a...
