Abstract Chinese jujube is a delicious fruit with high antioxidant nutrients. The peel, however, always discarded due to its indigestibility. In the current study, peels were collected for red pigment extraction. Six extraction-related parameters (ethanol concentration, solid-liquid ratio, material granularity, enzyme enzymolysis time, and pH) optimized peel extraction using Plackett–Burman Box...

Chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) has long been widely used for human consumption and medicinal purposes in China. It has been reported to possess several vital biological activities. However, the systematic study on the chemical constituents absorbed into plasma and their metabolites is still insufficient. A high-performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array detector-electrospray ion...

Antimicrobial activities were detected in the 80% ethanolic extract of Achyranthes aspera, Ficus glomerata, Leucas aspera, Thespesia populnea and Zizyphus jujube against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and salmonella typhi. The treatments resulted in the formation of various inhibitory zones, in contrast to the control where no inhibitory zone was observed.

The present work is focused on determining the performance and emission characteristics biodiesel in DI diesel engine. Experimental investigation of diesel engine was made with 25% (B25), 50% (B50) and 75% (B75) and 100%(B100) blending of Ziziphus jujuba oil with diesel and the results were compared with diesel. Keywords— Ziziphus jujuba, Indian jujube, Edible, Blending, direct injection (DI) d...

North American pawpaw [Asimina triloba (L.) Dunal] is a temperate climate member of the Annonaceae used as an ornamental and specialty tree fruit crop. Micropropagation could provide a clonal propagation method for plant production and contribute to germplasm preservation. A pawpaw culture was established that has produced shoot-bud clusters for over six years when maintained on a plant growth ...

African woodlands form a major part of the tropical grassy biome and support the livelihoods of millions of rural and urban people. Charcoal production in particular is a major economic activity, but its impact on other ecosystem services is little studied. To address this, our study collected biophysical and social datasets, which were combined in ecological production functions, to assess eco...

Acorus calamus rhizome, Pongamia glabra leaves, Aegle marmelos unripe fruit and Psidium guajava root-bark have been reported to be extensively used in the Indian ayurveda system of medicine for the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery. However, the traditional claims need to be validated by a suitable experimental model. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of meth...

In the present study, fruit capsule activated carbon (FCAC) of P-acerifolium and commercial grade activated charcoal (CAC) were used for the study of adsorption of chromium (Vl) from aqueous solution. The maximum adsorption took place in the pH range of 3-6 with in contact time of 180 minutes. The adsorption kinetic of chromium (Vl) analyzed by pseudo first-order and pseudo second-order kinetic...
